USC Writing Program

Hi, everyone! I'm new to the boards, so I'm not totally sure how this works...but I guess I'll just ask my questions and hope for some good replies. (sorry I have so many questions...)

I applied for the USC SCA Writing program, but one of my 3 rec letters was sent in late. Will they automatically discard my application for this? If not, what are the criteria they look for in admissions reviews? If anyone has previously applied and doesn't mind, could you send me your supplement material (writing samples, essays, and scripts) so I can get an idea of what they look for?

Thank you so much! I know that I already submitted my app, but I'm sorta stressing out about it all haha

Not sure what kind of responses you will get, as this is a visual arts forum. The only writing programs I know about is University of Iowa, tops in the country.

Hi @pandahunter just call the school, i think because all of your other materials were on time you should be fine. they probably expect a certain degree of that stuff due to the fact that often times the writers of the letters themselves send them.

@redbug119 this is the right forum for the above topic, USC SCA stands for University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts.

I’m sure the OP meant USC’s screenwriting program in their School of Cinematic Arts. It’s very good BTW. :)

They offer screenwriting classes in the Summer program. Is that good? Anyone attended before?

Thanks!

Hi Loveblue,

My daughter went last summer for producing and directing. The USC SCA classes are terrific and intense. The kids work hard from day one right through to the end. They get so into it that they end up working 7 days a week for 6 weeks.

When I picked my D up all the kids were exhausted but happy with their work and happy with the experience at SCA. I highly recommend the program.

Best,
Wheaty

Wheaty:
Thanks for your sharing and I will tell daughter about this program. Bad thing is if she choose to go, I will have to pay so much money.
