USC just NOW charged me for my app fee. Does this mean they are reviewing it now?

Today, i checked my charges on my credit bill, and there was a $40.00 fee by USC on 3/11. I thought I charged it when i submitted my app, but apparently not. So this raises the question, is USC reviewing my app now? Obviously someone must have come across my app, to submit a charge...

Not necessarily. Charges for application fees are random.

did they also send you a financial aid letter in the mail asking you to fill out some forms?

they charged me on 2/10 and i just got financial aid papers in the mail last week.

nah, i have yet to receive my financial aid papers, but i sent them out a little late though. i sent them like the beginning of march :/

usc, have u applied anywhere else?

nope, its either usc or nothing. why do u ask?

no reason. i suspected that was the cause u seemed really intent on going there.

I am also a first year CC student, like USC but it's too expensive for me.

anyhow good luck.

USCwannabe, so just in case you're not admitted to USC, are you saying that you're going to give up college? I don't like the sound of that. Why haven't you applied elsewhere?

wow... thats a big gamble to make there.

i too really, really, really, ... , really want to go to USC.
but i did apply to a backup (embry riddle)

fyi, i'm transferring from case western reserve

but yeah.. i hope you get in.

if u don't have 60 units u can't apply to UC.

But there are other private schools in cali, like LMU, Pacific that admitt w/ 30 units and decent HS record. Of course they are all costly.

jonmitz, what are your gpa and major if you don't mind me asking?

aerospace engineering, 3.38 first semester with 19 credit hours
i'm in about 4 clubs and a fraternity

i also graduated in high school in 3 years with a ~3.8/~4.08 unweighted/weighted GPA (since i have less than 60 credits they also look at my high school grades)

i've also been to summer programs at Stanford, Berkley, and Santa Cruz

i'm applying to USC's aerospace engineering (astronautical) program

I have no idea what that would be mean. They charged the $40 like two weeks after I submitted my application in February.

I don't know about you guys but now that they are almost done notifying the freshman class about their admission decision means that we are next to find out!

Just wondering, is anyone sending their mid-year grades to the admissions office even though they do not require them for transfer students?

different admissions people do admisison for transfers (at least in the engineering school) so i dont believe the freshmen being admitted means anything

but, on a positive note, when i had an interview with an admissions councelor they said they were going to try to have us informed in april at the latest

REALLY??! By april??

I know they request mid yr grades and i am actually counting on receiving a request because last semester was horrible. Perhaps i should send in my mid yr grades now cuz my semester doesnt end until may. Actually i have been working on a letter to the adcom explaining my current grades and improvement from last semester for quite some while now. Ill send that out maybe next week. I heard follow up letters are a great tool to show how enthusiastic you are.

And btw, i didnt mean it literally "usc or nothing." i will definately continue college regardless if i get into usc or not, but i would be extremely bummed if i didnt get in.

dont send anything in unless they tell you to. they have 10000some odd applications and if they have to keep adding stuff they wont be too happy

heres what i WOULD do
1. if you really want to send them in, CALL FIRST and ask if it will help at all
2. if you DONT get in, THEN appeal your admission with your new grades

once agian, keep in mind there are 10,000 poeple in your position (myself included) and that there are only a handful of admission counselors. sending in more papers for them or organize will only slow the admission process :(

40 bucks?

why they charged me $65? sooooo confusing....!!! :(

I honestly do not thing a follow up letter is overkill. I think it can only help because it shows how much I want to go to that school, also new grades and activities that could help to sway their decisions. I understand they are bombarded with apps to look at, but wouldnt a student who sends a follow up letter stand out? I really think it will improve my chances.

it would if they read it. It's not guaranteed that they will read or care.
