USC Math requirement?!

Hello! I’m interested in transferring as a political science major but I’m not sure which math class to take based on my major. I’m not sure if I need statistics or calculus and I don’t want to take the wrong class. Thank you !

Have you gone to orientation yet? Your academic advisor should tell you what classes you should take there. However…https://dornsife.usc.edu/assets/sites/741/docs/POSC_Major_Info_for_Web.pdf

Based on the page above, I don’t see any math requirements for your major. I’d assume stats would be the right choice, since calc is usually reserved for STEM and (I think) business majors. Your advisor should have the right info for you at orientation, though.

OP is looking to transfer, asking what to take before they get to USC. I don’t know if either of those are required. I looked at the PoliSci site and besides the USC core writing, language and diversity stuff required by Dornsife there is no mention of math or stats. Business requires 118 (Business calc ) or 125 (Calc I) but no mention of either in this major. I think you found a way to not do math  You can always call the undergrad advisors (may be slower time currently before school starts) in Dornsife, their numbers are at the end of the page linked above.
