Hi! - So I got my MMR shots for measles when I was a child, but the records got lost.

I need to bring proof of Measles immunization for the USC Orientation, what should I do?

-Should I get the shots again?
- Am I better off getting a measles titer test? (It's a blood test that shows if you're already immune)

or is there another option?

If I get vaccinate again, I have to wait 28 days after the first vaccine to get the second shot, and my Orientation is in like 4 days...

Would they be okay with my showing proof of only one shot?

Any input?

Thanks!

The requirement is for proof of two shots, so no, they would not be okay with proof of one.

You can ask your doctor (or former doctor) for a shot record. There may be a document fee of $10 to $25. This would be the best course of action.

Ask your doctor if getting the shots or taking the Rubeola titer and Mumps titer is easier/less expensive/more advisable in your situation.

The deadline to submit documents is Sept. 13, 2013 for Fall 2013, so you would have plenty of time to get two shots 28 days apart if you get going on it now (assuming your doctor recommends that course of action in your case).

One other idea: My child’s high school transcript shows the shot record we submitted to the high school. I do not know if other high schools also do this, but it would be worth it to look carefully at your HS transcript and see if the shot record is there. USC might accept that as proof of immunization.
