Where are you guys checking these statuses?

Aherm, never mind that last question…I checked and all it says is “we have completed a preliminary review of your application. We sometimes request additional information (senior-year grades, for example), so be sure to watch the mail.”

Uh oh…does that mean they havent even reviewed my app for real yet?

Mine says “forwarded for committee review” and I definitely checked it 2 days ago so it was either today or yesterday that it changed.

Which one is ahead of the other? I have heard of people who have had the “forwarded for committee review” status change to “we have completed a prelim review.” This is soo confusing sometimes. I feel like they have already kind of rejected me, haha. What was it before it changed, pianofish?

Also, should we send in a mid-year report even if USC did not request one yet? If we do, should we do the online form, or send it via mail from our school? I’m not even sure when my grades will be back yet.

Mine used to be “we have completed a preliminary review of your application…”

lol. I’m going to be glued to the USConnect site for the next couple days.

edit: they say to send midyear grades only if it’s requested. couldn’t hurt, though.

Mid year grade rule of thumb: If you have an excellent or very good mid-year report (as good or better than the GPA with which you applied), SUBMIT it ASAP whether they request it or not. If it is less than excellent (GPA less than that with which you applied), don’t send it unless requested.

it might only say that if you submitted mid-year reports… verify?

I only know the grades for SURE for 2 of my classes so far. The rest of my classes are either done with the mid year grades (teacher has them but I don’t know yet), or there are still one or two assignments left to be graded. I should wait until I get a report card back until I send midyear grades? I am hoping for a scholarship of some kind, so does this mean I should go bother my counselor for my grades early? (I expect the report card to probably come in two weeks or longer)

they probably wouldn’t be processed before when scholarship decisions come out (hopefully in like a week?)

I wouldn’t be able to fill out a midyear at least for another 1-2 weeks. Our semester hasn’t ended yet… :(

Anyway, I haven’t checked until today but I have the “forwarded” status now (whatever that means).

Biological Sciences
4.0 UW, 2360 SAT, 34 ACT

I can attest for Jason: he has truly exceptional EC’s, very unique and impressive

:)
And yes, I submitted my mid year grades yesterday. A 4.0 semester, so maybe it’ll help.

Nothing yet. Still on preliminary review.

3.9, 35 ACT. I guess I’m out of the scholarship hunt?

I applied Econ/Math…played two varsity sports…hard courseload. I don’t know why they wouldn’t take me, but I guess it’s time to start looking at other schools.

Yea that is how I feel too. Is anyone still stuck on “completed preliminary review” other than BigKev and me? I’m sort of worried now…

Yeah it’s definitely weird man. What are your stats and where are you from?

I’m from Wisconsin btw.

Im from Cali, and 4.0 unw and 2300ish sat, I didn’t think that I was too bad. Maybe my activities or essay sucked.

Wow dude. I am shocked that you haven’t gotten it yet. Hopefully they’re still sorting through the applications.

I really want to be able to afford USC…but with no financial or merit aid it will be tough.

I think it’s premature to panic. The statuses changes come in waves. Also, if we review last year’s thread, it says that some scholarship recipients never received a status update. Still, it would be nice…

Haha my application really isn’t that good. If you are shocked that I haven’t gotten in, then I say that I am equally shocked you haven’t gotten in too. I wasn’t even good enough to do varsity sports, so my sport is just a hobby (kind of lame, isn’t it?).

But in the end, I think the status message stuff is too vague. The great alamemom (who knows a lot about USC), says that the statuses do weird things sometimes. I’ve spent some time reading other threads too–some people had “forwarded” change to “we have recieved your application, thank you, blah blah” In summary, it is weird. Maybe I’m in denial–“NO I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THAT I HAVE BEEN REJECTED,” but it could very well be true, since in past years people have said many got in with scholarship without ANY updates, or, like us, being stuck in prelim.

And yes, I am in the same boat as you in terms of affording USC. Great school, but attending will only be a dream unless I can get merit and financial aid. I’m not one of thsoe people who has an extra 100k left for school =(, but I wish I was =)
