USC(spring admit),UC Davis, UCSB, or USF for premed?

Hi I’m a high school senior in the Bay Area having a tough time deciding what college to choose for the next four years so I decided to turn to the Internet!
USC spring admit(biochemistry)
pros:
-the trojan network
-LA and all the volunteering around
-smaller school
-good social scene
-really collaborative
cons:
-super expensive
-don’t know if Ill get financial aid
-I dont know how being a spring admit will affect my freshman year and my premed track

UC Davis (undeclared bio major)
pros:
-Has a med school so there are plenty of opportunities
-Closer to home (2 hours)
-nice wildlife and environment
-collaborative community
cons:
-more rural college town
-social scene isn’t as good
-don"t think i want to smell cows for the next 4 years lmao

UCSB (pre-bio track)
pros:
-Amazing college town
-near the beach
-proximity to SoCal
-has a vibrant social life(so i wont be stuck all the time in my room)
-collaborative environment
cons:
-no med school(there are still really good volunteering programs but the lack of a med school drags it down)
-no one i know is going there

USF (biology)
pros:
-30 minutes from home so i don’t get home sick
-i have family friends there

  • got a 25 k scholarship so its 48 k
-SF is a really vibrant place
    -plenty of volunteering opportunities
    -smaller school
    cons:
    -Doesn’t have a med school
  • social scene is meh
  • is a religious institution(don’t know how it’ll be from secular schools)

Thanks for reading and if you have any suggestions/questions drop them below!

UCD’s med school is in Sacramento, not Davis
USC sounds like it is not within your budget. This year more than any other year, it is probably a plus to be a spring admit.
UCSB - you won’t be stuck in your room at any of the schools you listed.

Net price at each school?

Medical school is expensive (and even applying to medical school costs thousands of dollars), so saving money and avoiding debt for undergraduate may help you in the long run (whether you get into expensive medical school, or become one of the many who do not and have to enter the job market with a biology degree that does not generally have the highest pay prospects).

@swagster629 Wrong “USF” tag…U San Francisco is not U South Florida.

UCD’s essence of cow is not at all noticeable except for a few windy days.

You will get a great education at all the schools but go to the most affordable school where you think you will thrive academically, financially and socially.
