Sounds like you have a very happy Trojan, which makes for happy parents. Producing - wow - I remember SCA was his dream - it’s nice to live those. Good on him!!!
Thank you all for the amazing information on this thread. Can’t tell you how helpful it is! Fight on!
I’m sorry for the delayed reply, but our son’s situation was very similar. Here are some specific (SCA also) tips that helped our son prepare for being on campus in Jan.
-
Start connecting with your cohort immediately. Find online groups (not sure if it’s GroupMe anymore), but there were multiple social media groups. Since SCA thrives on establishing relationships, this is particularly important for you. Find SCA Fall admits and start getting to know them now. Take the initiative, reach out and introduce yourself. Nobody knows anyone yet, so everyone is staring on the same page Do the same with Spring admits.
-
Find out who your regularly to your academic advisors are (both university and SCA), and send them an email introducing yourself. They will eventually contact you, but don’t wait for them. Demonstrated interest doesn’t stop, it needs to increase esp for Spring admits. Be proactive (not a nuisance) in getting approval for every specific course you take at CC during the Fall. (Our son came from a local CC here in TX, one which USC administration has never heard of, so course validation took a bit longer for him).

As an SCA student, you need to keep making films. Keep writing, storyboarding, shooting, etc. during the Fall. Look at the 480 projects from previous years, and develop your own thoughts on them. Since the process is selective, looking at the 480 projects will also give you names of people you can look out for when you get to campus. These are the standout film students. Many of the current juniors and seniors have already established professional connections in the film/tv industry because of their work at SCA. Having a chance to work with them while they’re an SCA student makes it much easier to network after SCA. You’re sitting in class with people who may likely be famous in the industry one day.
Please PM me if you are looking to sublease a a unit at Lorenzo in Spring 2023!!!
Hi.
My son is also a spring admit. I’ve heard there are specific abroad programs that spring admits go to, but I can’t find it on the USC website. Do you know who runs those programs? Thanks!
Did you get an answer from this? My son is looking for the same info
Posting in both threads for others to see as well:
Hi, I’m sorry for my late reply. My son chose to attend AUP this fall and is gearing up for the semester abroad in Paris. The spring housing uncertainty worries me but we won’t hear about that until November. So we are just taking each thing one step at a time, but overall my son is looking forward to both Paris and USC in January!
Exciting times! He should be fine for housing in January - they get the spring admits in, especially with students back to studying abroad.
Please PM me if you are looking to sublease a a unit at Lorenzo (USC off campus housing) in Spring 2023!!!
Hello Spring admit community - hope all are doing well! does anyone know when the students/parents will be informed about Spring 2023 housing for USC freshmen starting in January ? Thanks.
If any spring admits are still figuring out housing for next semester I am subletting my room at University Gateway for 1,220$ a month and the lease ends July 25 2023. The apartment only has myself and another guy and we currently have our own rooms.
