USC TAP vs. UOP 2+3?

Hello everyone! I really need some advice on choosing a school. I've narrowed down my choices to either USC or UOP, because I've been accepted into the pharmacy program at both.

Just last weekend, I visited both schools, and instead of helping me decide which school I liked better, it just made me more confused. And, I have less than a week to decide.

Based on just the feel on campus, I liked USC better. I really enjoyed my visit. USC has a good reputation from what I've heard. I got into the TAP program, so it would be 4 years of undergrad and then 4 years of pharmacy school. The only downside is that it's so expensive; it's about $60,000 a year.

On the other hand, UOP is the more logical choice for me. It's cheaper, and I would get my PharmD in only 5 years (2 years pre-pharm and 3 years of pharmacy school), which means I could start working earlier and pay back loans. However, I felt really depressed when I got to the campus. My guide was like, "UOP wasn't my first choice. It's a good school, I guess, but it's not the best," so that also brought down my mood.

One of my problems is that I'm not 100% sure I want to be a pharmacist anymore. So it would be terrible if I got my PharmD and decided not to practice and go back to school for something else.

If money was not involved, I would definitely go to USC. However, it is $20,000 more each year, so that's a lot of money. I still would have to get loans no matter what school I picked, but it'd be nice to be in less debt.

USC is closer to home for me, but location is not an issue. Both campuses are physically great, but I just had a different feel when I walked on each one.

I've been asking friends, family, and teachers for advice, and each person says something different. And now, I'm looking for someone else's advice.

Does anyone have any advice on what school to pick? Or has anyone been to either school and has advice to share?

My friend has the exact same problem! She’s leaning towards UOP for financial reasons, but she is still deciding. She wants to make the more logical choice, but at the same time, she wants to be a little selfish and do what she wants

I have no idea how 2+3 pharmacy programs work, so I will throw out a question: If you decide in the first two years that pharmacy is not for you, could you drop out of the program and finish a regular undergraduate major instead?

I could get a BS is something at UOP, but it would be cheaper to get a BS at a different school. The only reason I would want to go to UOP is because of the pharmacy program.

Thanks for a thought provoking question. However, I had already decided on USC. Now, though I’m considering not going into pharmacy at all.

If you could please help me by reading this http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1139258-extremely-confused-undecided.html#post12537968</a> and giving some advice, I would really appreciate it.

starsea54, tell your friend good luck for me! I cried over my decision, and just when I finally decided on USC, I might be changing my career goals. So back to more deciding for me.
