I already posted in the USC Transfer Thread, but I decided to post here as well. I'm attending UCI right now, and I really want to transfer to USC. However, I have a W on my transcript and I don't know if that will affect my chances or not. I have a good reason on why I received that W and Im planning to re-take the class and shoot for an A! Can someone please help me out here? I'll appreciate any information from anyone!

It was a while ago when I completed my application at USC, but there should be a place where it asks if there is any additional information that you would like to address that isn’t explained in your essay. You can explain your withdraw in that part of the app if you wish. The W will definitely hurt (hopefully it is just for an elective). Keep your GPA high and you should still have a decent shot to transfer.

I saw your question in the USC thread. I appreciate the comments. Anyways, I am going to have to respectfully disagree with @BGKing. One W will not adversely affect your chances of admission. If you had 8 W’s then it would be a different story. I would suggest retaking the class and trying to achieve the highest grade possible. If you strongly feel the need to explain yourself for the W then there is the additional comments section.
