<p>Each year Popular Science magazine selects 10 young professors across the nation who show exceptional promise. They are called the "Brilliant Ten". Dr. Andrea Armani, of the USC Viterbi School of Engineering, has been chosen as one the ten.</p>
<p>Dr. Armani is an assistant professor at Viterbi who is doing research in optics, photonics and biodetection.</p>

<p>Dr. Andrea Armani earned her BA from the University of Chicago in physics and later received her Ph.D. from Cal Tech. Her post doctorate study continued at Cal Tech.</p>
<p>As an assistant professor at the Viterbi School of Engineering Dr. Armani was honored with the 2009 ONR Young Investigator Award, Technology Review Top 35 under 35 Investigators 2009, National Institute of Health New Investigator Award and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers.</p>
