USC vs UCLA vs BC

Hi! I've been stuck for weeks now thinking about which college I should go to but I just can't seem to choose between USC, UCLA and BC. My plans are to major in business. If you could give me some advice, that would help a lot! thanks! Let me know!

bc or usc. ucla has no undergrad business, it's a waist of time at the undergrad level, when you have marshall for undergra.

USC probably.

usc definitely...the only negative thing about usc is that I know people that complain about the grading scale. However, it is better in job placement and starting salary than bc

it definitely depends where you want to work...USC is going to give you a better alumni network and job placement in cali, whereas BC will certainly give you the edge in Boston, maybe in NYC as well. If you go by rankings, BC is a few spots higher according to Business Week, but the difference is negligible - the point is that both are highly regarded. Consider other factors... student body size, location (do you prefer warm weather or a college-friendly city), etc. I was admitted to both and ultimately chose BC because of the smaller size and Boston location, and I'm very happy here. That being said, you can't go wrong with USC either. good luck!

UCLA has business econ, which is just as good....

Don't eliminate it because of major. Especially if you have in-state tuition.

If the choice is between the three - I'd pick UCLA because of cost.

Between USC and BC - I'd pick USC. It's more of a social school and the alumni network is amazing.

I would go with USC. It's your best option for studying business, and is an all around great school on the rise. Very strong alumni network, especially on the west coast, but also in NYC. BC obviously has the edge in Boston.

While I don't think ug business rankings mean much, since an above poster referenced the BW rankings, it should be noted that USNWR has Marshall at 9 and BC at 29.

Regardless, if you haven't already, visit both and decide where you will feel more comfortable.

They eliminated the grading curve at Marshall this year I believe.

Hey thanks for the advice! I know USC has an amazing alumni network and their business is strong but yet people say UCLA's business econ is pretty good too. BC is on the east coast so you got the connections there and their business program is good also. Any suggestions about student life or reputation?

Hi, I'm a BC grad here. SO many of my friends from southern california were in the exact same position as you, and many of them chose BC because of the East Coast business connections and internship opportunities.

With regard to student life, I think a crucial difference is size and you have to figure out what you are most comfortable with.

Another crucial difference is that BC has no Greek life. I loved this (as did every other student) because it eliminated a major cost and made parties open to everyone. We still had plenty of parties but affiliation did not matter.

BC is nowhere near the academic institution that UCLA is and USC hopes to be when it grows up. A business major on the undergrad level is great if you want to be an errand boy for an MBA somewhere. SO....the point is to go to the best place which will put you in position to get into a quality MBA program. UCLA is the obvious choice. And the Econ major will suit you just fine. This is a no brainer really. I will leave you with this.

NRC Rankings in Economics

BC imo, their business school is better than USC's iirc.

USC is most definitely the better choice
