Usc

For all of those who have applied to USC or who are applying to USC.

What is the deal with the sheet where you have to fill in every semester grade for every class from frosh to senior year? Do they look at this to find trends in grades? I mean, my average is lower if you dont count my final exams, which they dont even have a space to enter stats regarding?

Anyone have any idea how they use this?

Also, their rec letter forms seem to be pretty flexible. While most colleges expect a guidance counselor/school letter of recomendation, USC seems to only want 1, be it a teacher or guidance counselor letter of rec. Is this true or am i misreading it? Does my official school guidance counselor have to fill a rec letter out or is 1 teacher good enough?

Thanks everyone.

one teacher is good enough. im applying too!

high five !

thats southern cal we're talking about right? not south carolina? lol

I think they use that to get a preliminary look at your grades if you haven't sent your official transcripts with the application. and don't you have separate grades for each semester? i don't understand the lower average if not counting the final exam thing...in my school we have 1 final exam/semester

i'm applying too..my dream school. ^^ go pharmacy program!! lol...gawd...scholarship essays...hate them xP

oh yea and 1 teacher is fine but most of my friends (me included) did 2 just b/c that's what most colleges want.

about that. does your school also send a school letter of recommendation? i.e. i had 2 academic subject teachers send recs. should my school also send their standard letter of rec?

also, my school has a final exam for the entire year.
this is how it works: trimesters with final exams each trimester, and a comprehensive test at the end of the year

go usc !!

yea, the counselor writes the school letter of recommendation if we request it. you don't need the school's though. i sent my bio/chem teacher and my counselor...but only cuz my counselor made me edit my own rec letter so i knew it was pretty good.

err...does the comprehensive test change the grades for the first 2 trimesters as well?

nope. it changes the final average for each year. thus my three year average and rank are affected by the comprehensive final.

i'd request a transcript from the school, and put down whatever that says, then have your school explain the whole trimester final exam thing in their rec letter...or you could write it under the short answer essay #4.

good luck! ^^v

im actually surprised. i thought that the way my school did things was pretty normal besides the use of the trimester system. hm the things you learn...

good luck to you too !!
