USC's Dr. A. Damasio Awarded Grawemeyer Award of $100,000.

<p>University Professor, Antonio Damasio, has won the 2014 Grawemeyer Award for Psychology. Dr. Damasio heads the Brain and Creativity Institute at the USC Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. He holds the Dornsife Chair in Neuroscience. The Grawemeyer Award honors distinguished leaders in the study of cognition and neuroscience.</p>

<p>Professor Damasio is a member of the National Academy of Sciences' Institute of Medicine. He has received a long list of honors. He is the recipient of the Honda Prize, Prince of Asturias Prize and now the Grawemeyer Award, among others.</p>

<p>Damasio's books have been translated into more than 20 languages and are used in universities around the world.</p>

<p>Dr. Damasio earned both a MD and Ph. D.degree. He has received the Beaumont Prize, Pessoa Prize, Signoret Prize and the the Nonino Prize. He is the recipient of the Queen Sofia Medal and the Corine International Book Prize. </p>

<p>He has received many honorary doctorates as well as membership in European academies and is a Fellow of the AAAS.</p>
