USD Class of 2018 Applicants

@Jaustin12017 Yes. Unfortunately, mine came without any scholarship information as well.

Accepted Monday but got my letter today. No money though. A part of me is happy though because the fact that I cannot afford this school makes my decision easier! Best of luck to the rest of you. Will be checking out USD soon but am leaning towards Chapman.

Our mail just came and there is a large white envelope from USD. We are in OC, so close to them. The worst part as a supportive parent is that now I have to wait for my son to come home and open it and he wont be home till 10pm. Oh…that is going to be hard not to peak at. I promised him I wouldn’t peak and he wont let me see his emails either, so I guess I will just have to be #2 to know  Let’s hope there is more of a money offer in there too! Best of luck to all of you!!

Does anyone else have a zero cost of attendance showing on their Financial Aid Status page?

Daughter got in, honors college invite and Alcala Scholarship- Woohoo!

Ours said zero cost of attendabce for a week or so, then just two days ago started showing the real
numbers - so don’t worry, they will get to you! we showed admitted on the portal on the
first day (feb 24), but still nothing in the mail. When I say admitted on the portal, I mean the
admitted tab shows up. The app status still says ‘committee review’, so I think that is normal.
It originally said ‘ready for review’.

@collegeisgreat So it is ok to call a school and say I need more merit aid to attend this school?

Jaustin: Yes, it’s okay to call and ask for more aid.

My son’s envelope was an acceptance and a 4 year, $15K per year merit scholarship. It says need based aid will be communicated later. He is happy with the yes, but it really comes down to the end money offer, so he is with holding his joy for now.

And yes, always ask for more aid if you need it. They want you to attend if they say yes, so just communicate best you can. With our daughter we went there in person and they were very good about working with us. In the end she did not choose USD, but we left with a really good feeling of their admissions/FA group.

I suggest to all waiting for a decision to check their admission status as often as possible. I received no email regarding my decision…I just checked my web portal and I was accepted!

My brother received the Alcala Award.

He says that he probably won’t attend regardless, considering how our state school’s honors college has a better reputation than USD (according to him).

have all decisions been mailed? or are they doing it in groups of applicants

I’m from the east coast, but I have yet to see an admitted tab on my profile. I saw on the Director of Admissions blog that they will begin to send out denied letters today. Is it safe to assume that that’s bad news?

@Cha0495 not necessarily. has anyone from the Illinois, Indiana, Wisconsin, etc areas heard yet?

I just got an email from my rep congratulating me on my acceptance so idk what that means to people who haven’t gotten anything

My son got an admitted “tab” about a week ago and in today’s mail (March 11) came his official acceptance letter and a brochure. We live in the San Francisco Bay Area.

If they’re doing it in groups of when people applied, has anyone who applied on the 15th been notified?

They will continue sending sending out acceptance letters though April 1. They are not doing it according to when you applied.

can someone direct me to the director of admissions blog?
