@sdever Yes I did! It went from ready for review to accepted. I emailed my admissions counselor last week as well so I would highly suggest doing that as well.

What’s the difference of having complete-ready for review or committee review ? And I honestly think their acceptances are really random! I can’t figure out an order !

@sdever I don’t think mine ever said committee review. The last time I saw it said ready for review before I was accepted. I don’t think it matters which it says.

USD updated my portal again. There was no financial aid posted when I saw that I was admitted. Around a week later I logged in and it informed me I was awarded with the presidential scholarship. I was really bummed at the lack of aid until I logged in again last night, about a week after my last login, and they updated it further with another huge USD scholarship, grants, work study, parent PLUS loans, and subsidized/unsubsidized loans. I am thrilled with my aid award since I think my stats were less than stellar. Undoubtedly going to USD (:

Moral of the story: keep checking the portal for updates on your financial aid award! (:

Still no snail mail received though.

@clarissawz was the financially aid on the portal in the box in the middle of the page? I’m not really sure where to look.

Just so anyone who hasn’t heard yet, I called usd’s Admissions office and the next bundle of letters are going to start their denys…

For anyone wait listed - my friend’s son was waitlisted and someone recommended to her that her priest write a letter of recommendation for her son. He was admitted 2 weeks after the letter was written (and he is very happy at USD)

^^ Good advice about the waitlist.

Here’s last year’s data from the Common Data Set:

Number of qualified applicants offered a place on the waiting list: 2382
Number accepting a place on the waiting list: 708
Number of wait-listed students admitted: 457

Not bad odds.

@Caliliz does that mean if we haven’t heard yet we’re probably going to be denied?

@vgooding i really hope not because I’m in that boat, but my friend got in with my stats almost exactly. My other also got in with low SATs and low gpa and no ec’s! So I would be suprised if they deny me so easily … A real bummer! Right now the chance of receiving a denial is higher then an acceptance… But there is still hope they said !

Hey everyone. I was just told that decisions are still being sent out. They said they are going to continue sending out decisions throughout the month of March.

Thank you! I was literally freaking out from the previous comments!

Would it be a good idea if I called or emailed the admissions counselor or no? I’m just really scared

They didn’t really seem Like they wanted people calling the admissions counselors because they’re so busy but the main lady who answers the phone can answer general questions

@ Clarissawz, congrats! If you don’t mind me asking what are your stats?

@trojan13 what did you write in your email to your admissions counselor ?

My daughter was accepted about a week ago and offered the Trustee Scholarship. However while we are grateful for the scholarship, we may not attend due to costs, the balance that we will be responsible for. From what I understand, the cost is $40k tuition and $10-$12k for room/board? We did an guided tour last year and loved the campus. Is anyone going to the overnight visit to see if USD is the right fit for them?

just want to mention that USD was very generous in its financial aid package. While the merit aid was meager (5K), they threw in another $11,500 in school grant…So overall, they were comparable to other schools. She will likely head east and not attend, but thought I should mention it that they tried to make it more affordable.
So, wait for the finaid package.

@Eschloss I had to click a link to view my financial aid award in depth. For a few weeks it just said there “is no financial aid award posted at this time” when I clicked it but after checking back later, there was an obvious change with my “admitted” tab showing which forms I need to turn in (loan forms, work study forms, etc) which is denoted with a red flag. So once you’re aid is posted I’m sure you can’t miss the loads of bright red flags haha :)

@andi0527 It’s no problem. UW gpa= 3.4, Weighted= 4.2 1890 SAT. I know, definitely not impressive. My EFC was below $2000 so maybe that’s why the USD scholarship was huge ($27,500!) on top of the 10k presidential scholarship.

@ocmomof3 I would recommend checking the portal again for an updated financial aid award because I know, in my case, I was only offered the Presidential scholarship initially. Once I checked back into the portal maybe a week or so later, it was updated with more scholarship, work study, grants, etc and maybe that’s the case with your daughter too. & Yes I am hopefully attending the overnight visit. If not I’ll definitely be going to the college visiting day (:
