@clarissawz thanks!

So if the third tab appears and it says admitted … that means I’m admitted!!! This sounds really dumb but I’m just so excited about this that I can’t think straight!!! Help! Am I in???

^Clarissawz… I will ask my daughter to check out her portal again! Thx for tip! Please take note of types of financial aid offered. You probably are aware already… Check other threads here for more detail, check out if your AID is guaran every year. A minimum GPA might be required to keep any scholarships. Note, scholarships/grants are free money. But loans are exactly that, borrowed money that must be paid back. A parent plus loan may be of concern as your parents are actually on the note to pay that back themselves. Students should be wary of taking on too much debt. Many think they have time to pay the money back but can you guarantee that you’ll be able to find a well paying job in order to pay, sometimes hundreds of dollars per month once you graduate? Interest may accrue during college too! Imagine a $25k per year loan times 4 years…Cautioning my D about taking on too much student loan debt herself. Likely she’ll take up to $5500 per year offering for undergraduates since she can sign that herself while her dad and I pay for the rest. We won’t take on any Parent Plus loans if we can help it. I’ve also counciled her on selecting a major that likely she can get a job with a bachelors degree. She has chosen engineering (for now… ;). Unless we have significant incr in scholarship or grants, likely Cal Poly SLO or Pomona will be our advice for our D (tuition is less than $10k vs $40k). It’s too bad for our D that we just didn’t have enough saved for her. Hope this didnt come over as negative, and more as parental advice. Best of luck to you!

@diahamed yes! Click on it for the “letter”

@ocmomof3 I definitely took it as motherly advice, thank you! My financial aid award suggests that I take out $5,500 in loans and a Parent PLUS loan of $6,094. I also have a federal perkins loan of $1,000 offered. With these loans, scholarships, grants, etc, the COA is completely covered.

My question is: instead of my parents taking out a loan and being strapped for cash paying the monthly bills, unable to provide living money while I’m there, if I can take out more loans. Then I can rely on them for expenses throughout college and, when the time comes to pay the loans back, my parents can help with my loans if financially possible. Do you know if this is allowed? Basically, instead of a parent plus loan can I take on another, say Stafford, loan? I understand if you’re not capable of answering but any other advice is appreciated!

& To any other students/parents with advice: feel free to chime in or share your situation because I’m curious (:

I got a call from a USD freshman specifically from my town, Las Vegas, congratulating me on my acceptance! Made my day. Also, some good news for people anxious about the snail mail-- I can verify acceptances are being delivered because I just got mine today :)

Son got package today with Alcala Award, we are in Bay Area.

@Clarissawz if you don’t mind me asking but what are your stats? :)

Im from Ohio and still have not heard. Do you think the acceptances haven’t made their way out east yet?

Has anyone been rejected yet? My status still says “Complete-ready for review” as of today.

Clarissawz my S was accepted as well and we live in Henderson…got scholarship packet yesterday’s mail. Will you attend USD?

@2017wannabe I will definetly attend if im admitted. Its my number 1. My status says committee review

@gilmourgirl101, good luck…I know the waiting is hard!

@caligirl28 my stats were posted a page back but here they are again, no problem haha: 3.4 unweighted 4.2 weighted 1890 SAT. Not sure if you wanna know how many honors/APs and all that but if you do want more detail just ask haha (:

@2017wannabe I’m definitely going! It was my number one choice and I’m thrilled with my aid award (: Congrats to your son! Is he planning to attend?

I’m from Vegas too and got a call yesterday. Definitely makes it so much more personal.

D’s portal added a tab that says admitted. The confusing part is the financial aid…they list the wrong year and there is no award to look at. ARCH, ACT 27, GPA 3.9, San Joaquin County.

I really want to know already! What’s the difference between complete-ready for review and committee review?

Anyone who was admitted did it say complete ready for review or committee review before changing ?

Hmm… Well mine still says complete-ready for review which worries me
