Useful resources for College Applications

Hi everyone!
I am going to be a senior in the fall, and naturally I'm getting antsy about the upcoming frenzy of college applications. I want to get started on my essays for the applications to get a lot of this out of the way. I know I can get my common-app essay totally finished, but what else can I really do? Also, does anyone have helpful resources for the application process?

Including (but not limited to):
- Old applications
- Book recommendations such as "Get It Together for College" (made by the collegeboard)
- Any important dates in the application process
- General advice for time management and staying in control of applications
- A list of things to complete before both school and the application process begin in the fall

Also, I know that the common-app does not open until the fall, but are there any available applications out right now for public universities?

Thanks!

I suggest you make a spreadsheet of important dates for each college you are going to apply to. Also, notice the pinned threads at the top of forums, there are tips and FAQ. Read the ones at the top of the College Essay forum before you get started on essays, there are some nice tips. There are thousands of public colleges. Check the ones you are interested in so see when the application opens. Rolling applications may be open now.
