USF or IIT or SJSU for COMPUTER SCIENCE

I plan to pursuit CS master's degree in Fall 2013 in US. Getting a job there is another objective from me. By the way, I've been working for 5 years in China as a software engineer after I got my bachelor's degree.

I got admission letters from University of San Francisco and Illinois Institute of Technology. And I am still waiting back from San Jose State University's acceptance. Both USF and IIT has better ranking but also higher tuition. About the location, I prefer SF Bay Area to Chicago.
SJSU is located in the heart of Silicon Valley. I don't know whether SJSU has a better reputation in IT Employers because of its location.

So what school would be more benefit to me for a computer science major and have companies come in to hire after graduation?

go to SJSU

Thank you, Benjimon.
Could you please explain why SJSU is the best choice for me? Better job environment? Nice faculty? Or other reason?
Afte all, USF is also near SV and has a higher overall ranking than SJSU.

Sure thing.

So i know both schools pretty well and without a doubt you should pick SJSU over USF for the following reasons:

The rankings you see(i’m assuming usnews?) bases SJSU as a regional school and USF as a national university because USF offers doctoral programs(although not even in computer science) while SJSU only offers up to a masters program. To further prove my point you can look at San Diego State University, it is the only CSU to be ranked nationally because it has joint doctoral programs with UCSD. I would not look at rankings of the university as a whole to be honest when comparing those two schools, the strength of the individual program would do better justice.

The program itself i can tell you that SJSU offers more. I know all the schools in the bay area and in order the ranking goes as follow: Stanford, UCB, UCSC, SJSU, Santa Clara University, USF. The professors at SJSU all come from much better schools than what USF has to offer. In terms of research opportunities i’ve heard SJSU has a lot of joint research with big companies in the bay area so there’s always something new and interesting going on.

SJSU being literally in the center of SV will have better connections with businesses looking to hire graduate students. SJSU has fairs all the time, companies from small to big ones like google, oracle, apple, seagate, netflix, and more are desperate to hire computer science and engineering students.

I assume you applied as an international student but even so SJSU is probably still cheaper by a little in comparison to USF with it’s private university cost.

Very useful information. Thank you,Benjimon!
