okay, so i am trying to decide on which college to go to, University of San Francisco or UC Irvine. Does anyone know if University of San Francisco is a commuter school? If you could give me any information about either colleges that would be wonderful. I've toured both and I love them both. I'm gonna be majoring in psychology and maybe minoring in theatre arts. I want to join the dance team and a sorority. okay with that being said, just post back asap thanks

UCI is going to be more of a commuter school than USF, but MUCH cheaper in-state and keep in mind that 77 percent of freshmen live on campus. So although a good chunk go home on the weekend, it depends what you mean by commuter. I have lots of friends from NorCal and some from SoCal at UCI that don't go home very often and I always have people to hang with on the weekends. Nevertheless, I'd imagine the social life to be a bit calmer at UCI than USF although there are PLENTY of dance teams at UCI and a bunch of sororities to choose from. Academically, Psychology and the Arts are very good at UCI.

Well, I go to UCI and am enjoying my time here but I don't know hardly anything about USF so I can't compare them that well for you.

I don't think USF guarantees housing for all 4 years. SF is VERY expensive to live in.

The psychology department at UCI is very good. They actually have two different psychology majors - Cognitive Psychology and Psych & Social Behavior. So whether you want to be a clinical psychologist or more of a therapist/family counselor, they've got you covered. One of the members of the Psychology faculty is Elizabeth Loftus, who was named one of the top 100 psychologists of the 20th century, and was also the highest ranking woman. Her name was amongst those of Freud, Skinner, and Piaget. She teaches at UCI and you have opportunities to take classes with her and even possibly do research with her.
UCI's arts department is very strong and well-known in arts circles.
