Will USF provide a decision before you complete your AA degree which you plan on obtaining before transferring? Most colleges, you apply around the time grades are posted for the semester before the one you graduate in. I have one semester left which is the upcoming spring semester, my major is limited access and I definitely do not want to wait to receive an admission decision in May considering I have to secure housing, and possibly a job as well
I also applied to USF and was wondering the same thing too. Did you ever get an answer to your question?
I haven’t! I am definitely going to call tomorrow!
@TreeyB I’ve been accepted as a transfer student with only 3 semesters of work at a community college, so yes- USF does provide decisions before you complete your AA degree. You are eligible to receive a transfer decision upon applying to USF if you have completed more than 24 college-level credits- possibly less in exceptional cases. See http://www.usf.edu/admissions/transfer/app-requirements/lower-level-req.aspx
@Tokarev I’ve completed 46 college-level credits and when I called them today they told me that I had to resubmit my transcripts in may and they wouldn’t give me a decision before that! Do you know why he said that? i have a decent GPA so i dont think its that.
@kingjames2332 sounds like you’ve been deferred. see “grade trend” on this page: http://www.usf.edu/admissions/freshman/decisions/other-factors.aspx
generally, deferment occurs whenever you’ve shown promise as a potential admission candidate, but colleges want to see another semester’s worth of solid academic performance to push you “over the edge”, in a manner of speaking. in such cases the admissions office will postpone your admission decision until they see a further semester’s grades.
@kingjames2332 Contact the dean. There’s a dean submission form. That’s what I did. It took like 3 months for me to be accepted. Literally, the people who u talk to over the phone at admissions know nothing besides what is on their computer screens.
@Tokarev Im not a high school senior though. Do they do deferments for transfers too? and if i was i’m not sure how I got deferred! I have a 3.13 gpa and made the dean’s list twice in a row. I failed one of my classes but i retook it and got an A and that was in my first semester so that would be my only setback. @TreeyB where can I find that deans submission form?
@kingjames2332 Yes, you can be deferred as a transfer student. USF doesn’t have a great page describing the deferment process for transfer students, but I found this one from UCF http://transfer.sdes.ucf.edu/deferred.
I would consider @TreeyB 's advice of contacting USF, but not the dean, who is unlikely to be able to get back to you in a timely manner. Throughout the admissions process I relayed all my concerns and questions to my recruiter, who was helpful and knowledgeable. Find your recruiter here: http://www.usf.edu/admissions/contact-us/find-your-recruiter.aspx. It could be a valuable piece of information to know precisely what USF wants to see from you in your last semester, though it is almost always improving grades.

My GPA wasn’t much higher than urs… I think like a 3.2-3.3… they should deff be able to give you a decision you just have to press them!
