USF vs UF vs UF

I need to decide on a school ASAP! I got accepted into all 3 and plan on getting a double major in Marketing and Advertising. I need to hear facts and your experiences at the schools, not just what sports team is best. Most specifically job and internship opportunities, as well as other opportunities on campus.
Please help!!!

Do you mean USF vs UCF vs UF?

At UF, Marketing is in the School of Business, while Advertising is a major in the college of journalism. Both programs (Business and Journalism) are highly rated at UF. You’ll find UF has the best programs, is the best recruited (for Marketing and Advertising) and has the best career resource center.

The following link is for this springs Career Fair at UF (the Fall’s Showcase is much larger). Companies with a hiring code of “3” are looking for Marketing and Advertising majors. This will give you a sense of the type of companies that recruit at UF.

USF and UCF likely are offering you merit scholarships, and some folks prefer the larger cities of Orlando and Tampa over a college town like Gainesville. They may not be as well recruited (especially by out of state firms) as UF, but they still do a good job with job placement (especially locally to each college and in the state of Florida).

Good Luck!

@Gator88NE, May I get your view on UNF in comparison to UCF for internship opportunities. Starting to explore Florida colleges with my DD class of 2018. We are from NJ but have family in Jacksonville and also down near Fort Myers. She is interested in studying Finance. Thank you!

@tpcrd66

I was just at UNF on Saturday, taking my DS17 to a charity walk/run. :slight_smile:

Keeping this limited to Internships;

UCF is based in a larger metropolitan area, and it has 4 times the number of students (60K vs 15K), so it’s more heavily recruited than UNF. It may be more easier to land a local internship in Orlando, than Jacksonville.

However, many internships are not local, and Jacksonville is something of a financial hub, with several large bank operations.

They have comparable career resource centers.

I would give a slight edge to UCF, since UNF would have a smaller number of companies recruiting on campus. It should be something to consider (as well as other factors), but I wouldn’t put undue weight on it.

@Gator88NE, Thank you! Any insight on Florida Gulf Coast business program?

@tpcrd66 Sorry, I don’t. :frowning: The basketball time isn’t 1/2 bad though… :slight_smile:

@tpcrd66 I’m not a student at fgcu but when I took the tour the guide was a business major. He really liked the program! Since I am not interested in business, I don’t know if this is common, but he said the students get a large sum of money to invest and trade. That seemed pretty cool.

@pitt2021, that does sound pretty cool!!
