Using Common App to send additional letters of rec

On the common app, my research mentor is listed as an additional recommender and the status of the recommendation is "submitted." Does this mean that when I submit the application, his letter will automatically be sent, or does he additionally have to send it via mail/email/etc.? I did EA at one school, where the status for his letter is "downloaded," but they claim to have never received his letter.

This is pretty urgent! Hopeful bump :(

If you have assigned the recommender to the school, when you submit your app to the school that recommendation will be sent automatically without any further effort by you or the recommender. I would not expect any difficulties in that process with apps you are submitting now.

However, some schools did have difficulty, especially early on this application season, getting submitted materials. You need to follow up with your EA school to resolve that glitch, if you have not already done so. In that case your recommender may have to re-send the teacher eval by another means.

So just to confirm, if the status of a recommendation letter is listed as “downloaded” there is nothing more I need to do about it? And, since I had trouble with this during EA, would it be a good bet to try and get physical copies mailed to all the schools? I’m really, really worried this won’t go through.
