What is the tailgating protocol at the game?

Our family is going up and I am ready to roll out some serious food for before and after the game if there is going to be anybody to eat it. I'm going to check with our regional parents club, but wanted to get this group's perspective as well.

Sweet. A new thread! I'm cloning myself the week before the game so I can be there to enjoy the food! When you say "serious", does this mean taking the grill? OH YUM! I say to heck with protocol if no one is tailgating. USMMA starts it's own traditions here & now. HA! HA! You guys are gonna have such fun! Everyone dress warmly and watch out for freeloaders from "the other side". You know, ones who wear CG hats and has a son in crew. I'd give him only one piece of BBQ chicken and a cookie and shuffle him back over to his side! Although he may bring his own grill for alittle competition for their side. In that case, sneak over and wet down his charcoal! GO KP BEAT CG!! :)

Wow Jamzmom, a warning shot right across Boss's bow. I wish we could all be there for the game and tailgating. Anybody got tickets for Navy/Army 2007? Can't wait to go to Philly after my daughter gets in!

The best way to assure yourself tickets for the Army Navy game is to spring for season tickets to Navy home games. Season ticket holders who are also members of USNAAA are assured tickets You pay for them at the same time you pay for your season ticket.

GRIN! I blab alot don't I? Shogun & one of the Moms have surpassed me with Aspen right on my heels. Blow up the balloons and get those double chocolate brownies ready for my 500 party! Ya'll are invited. Even you Boss! ;) Yes, you can wear your hat.

Davy? Are you talking about the Navy/Army game? Want me to make a call to the Vice Admiral and ask? HA! I sure wish you guys could go. It would surely be a highlight in your year. Be safe with travels friday and enjoy your Fall Break!

Davy - Oooops...if you meant the USMMA vs. USCGA, they'd better let ya'll go! Its on the calendar so hopefully they will. Its an away game and the Vice Admiral has been breeding such a huge rivilary in every speech, I can't see you guys not going. I'll see what I can't find out though.

Well this is certainly a fun topic. Tailgating at the CGA-MMA game! I willl be there with bells on(not to mention my USCGA 2009 hat which JM refers to with regularity!). The main protocol is to save some food for me!
Just kidding of course. Some hints for those coming up:

Dress very warm. It has been a cold fall and rain is never far away so bring your umbrella and maybe something to sit on...watch the jokes jm!

Arrive about 2 hours before the game to give yourself time to find a decent parking spot. The parking situation isn't the greatest so if you're going to tailgate an early arrival is good. The various lots are all within reasonable walking distance of the stadium so that's not a big problem...we're not talking the University of Michigan here!

Be sure you have i.d. as you will be "carded" at the gate...this is a military base after all! The guards are friendly and helpful tho...unless of course you're from MMA...jk of course

Try to get inside the stadium early for the "march-on"...this is very impressive and the cadets from both academies(er mids and cadets I guess) will march in together. Very nice!

Before entering the stadium, look for the tall, good-looking cadet selling programs. That would be my ds who has been setting records all fall for program sales. They even let him work the scoreboard sometimes.

Most of all have fun and GO COASTIES BEAT KP!

Well maybe they do march on separately...I'm going by the CGA-Norwich game in which they marched on together...whatever it's a great ceremony nevertheless. Hope to see you there and have some of that "chow."

Thanks for the tip on the tickets LFWB dad, but I was mostly kidding. It would be hard for me to use season tickets since I live in Idaho, but maybe it would be worth it just once. We used to live in Philadelphia and my daughter was born there so it would be pretty neat for us to be able to go. Maybe I'll check with our BGO when it gets closer. He's a retired Captain and Alumni who was telling my daughter all about the 2004 game he attended at the last Academy day.

Boss - I'm a bit concerned about #5. There will be a bus load of girls lined up in the program line and he'll run out of them before the parents can get one. Best to just keep him on the scoreboard. Maybe let LFWB's son get in there too to keep things on an even keel. Great tips you've shared here. Being a girl, I would have left the ID in the car. Its a blonde thang.

LFWBdad - we gotta be sure to tell our son's to go through the gate and tell Boss' son that they'll be watching him closely. I hope its atleast 60 and sunny on game day! 18 more days to give each other "down the road" about it! HA!!

Hmm the i.d. thing is when you go in the main gate of the school...so hopefully you'll be in your car at the time...LMAO...otherwise there could be an incident...
The game is being held on Veterans Day weekend...not sure when the respective schools will be giving liberty but hopefully it won't cut into the attendance. How appropriate to have a game between two great service academies on this weekend. Let's hope for nasty, I mean nice weather for the gang from KP.
Your assignment, learn the song in this link.

Boss - LMOA now! Who knew! Its a drive through ball game! Weeee! You'll know where to find me. I'm gonna park on the 50 yard line! Now where did I put my bottle of bleach.... ;)
I call a penalty on you for posting your little song there pal.

Davy, I'm gonna send you a bottle of BBQ sauce for the hot dog you'll prolly have to get from concessions. Sorry buddy. Maybe if you just kinda walk around near where the parents are setting up the grills and put a sad puppy dog look on your face, they'll take pitty and give you a little somethin'. Take pitty guys! Give the kid something to eat! When you march on, elbow a Coastie for me!
