Thanks Z - as always, insight appreciated.

if your initial sponsor family doesn't work out, its basically up to you to find a new one. the academy has a tough enough time finding one for each mid: it sucks but they're much too busy to find a second. i would not reccomend asking your company officer about this. he's usually busy. but then again my company officer is a marine corps major and served two tours in iraq, came here, and at the end of this year is going back. he is not a grad, and frankly is still confused by many of the aspects of academy life. but he's just a bamf, and i'd feel silly asking him to help me do anything except pt and get a high and tight. which is weird because i'm a girl lol. sorry for this ramble, but my company officer is awesome, and i hope everyone is as lucky as 4th company was. even his five year old son has a high and tight. i love the man.

BAMF, hehehe. My kinda guy. Ooh-rah.

Oh, that DOES stand for "bright and mighty fine", right? LOL!

Damn. That seriously sucks. I reckon I got lucky. Twice.

Well, then I guess you can start asking classmates to see if there are any opportunities. The Chaplain Center is still a last resort if all else fails.

Ah, yes. The Marine Company Officer. I hope they're not still bringing in only the jerks. Seemed like a prerequisite for USMC officers assigned to USNA in my day.

Naptown06: Thanks for being a sponsor family. We live in SC and I know my son is looking forward to meeting his sponsor. Thank you for sponsoring Mids, I hope your experiences this year will be great ones.
Andrew's mom

Packet received Wednesday, April 19th......reporting at 8 AM. It is really surreal. This is actually happening!

Sis received her Permit to Report 19-April. 0700 report time. Almost seems real now.

Seems like they have "discovered" many of the missing documents from earlier packets. There was a page listing three or four items and that at least one was to be done electronically. I haven't throughly scanned the entire stack but, looks like "loads" of fun!

Did anyone fill out the Entrance Fee Questionnaire? I think mine is missing a page or something because it just asked for my name and address and that was it, just one page, not much of a questionnaire.

Wait...so how much time does a mid actually have to see his/her sponsor family? Just weekends and liberty?

Mids never actually "have" to see their sponsor families except for initial introductions. After that, it is up to the mids. However, yeah, you only can see your sponsor family for weekends and liberty.

Unless they visit during the week, and you have time. Not extremely common, but not unusual, either.

I've thought about sponsor families and it would seem kind of weird. However, I would feel bad if I had one assigned and I never actually utilized them or called them or wrote them.

Is there anyone else still waiting for the Permit to Report packet? The offer of admission arrived, the acceptance has been mailed back- it's been over three weeks and nothing else has arrived-

????

I found out on my CIS that my packet was mailed on May 1, so it might be a week for me. They don't send it until they process your acceptance. your CIS page will change when they do.

Oh wow, already complaints against a 0630 arrival, HAHAHAHAHAHA!!! So while I was standing the mid watch last night, thats midnight to 0600 for all of you still civilian folk. Just kidding. Although I have had my fair share of 0200 reactor startups being at a sea going command. Hope all are well, I am yet to know my report time but I will see you all there!

thank you everyone- the packet arrived today. Looks like someone is going to be very busy with paperwork when comes home tomorrow for a visit! ;) Reporting time: 8am.... :) :) :) (maybe we'll even have time for a quick breakfast!! )
