peskemom -- my cand # ends in 27 and i got my appointment in December, yet don't report till 0800. Maybe it has to deal with how far you have to travel...

No, the travel theory doesn't work either--we're at 9:15 from CO and Peske is at 8:00 from CA... Perhaps they just throw darts at a board...

I can't find the Plebe Sponsor Questionnaire. Any idea where it can be found?
The email said it was up.

Check that HUGE pile of papers they sent you. I think the academic dean talks about it on one of the yellow pages. He gives you the URL (http://www.usna.edu/acdean/candidateinfo.html). Click on CABS and log in. There's quite a few pages to fill out, so hurry up and finish it before your two-week deadline.

That seems to be for validating courses; it's a questionnaire regarding high school/college courses from what I see.

I mean the plebe sponsor questionnaire; presumably matching me with a sponsor.

dictatoranna
the plebe sponsor forms are online, not in paper copy in your packet

Archie44: Oops, my bad. I was suffering from lack of food and meat yesterday (Good Friday -- fasting and no meat) and misread the question.

well then dictatoranna
Happy Easter to you .
Alleluia, the Lord is risen indeed, alleluia!

Looking forward to meeting you. Have you gotten your family to send me an email yet???

Happy Easter peskemom and all CC family!

Just a note about sponsor families, our NJROTC instructor arranged for our daughter's sponsor family. You might check to see if anyone from your area already has a list/suggestions for sponsor families.

God bless and have a wonderful day!

Dictator, like peskemom said, just look in your CIS file.

Yeah, I know. They lied; they didn't have it up until the 15th when they sent out the email earlier. Hah.

Hm...I was going over the whole checklist again to make sure I had everything. I'm missing the NCAA eligibility form. Was that form in your packet (anyone)? Or is that a form I have to print out from NCAA's website? I guess I'll go contact admissions. (Just wondering if anyone else was missing it like the other forms mentioned.)

it's a postcard sized form, anna, ( the NCAA) does that help?

wvdad....Alleluia! The Lord is Risen Indeed. Happy Easter to you too!

Hey guys I'm from Annapolis and just wanted to say congratulations for your acceptance to USNA! A word about the sponsor sheet..please do not fill one out unless you fully intend to actually participate in the sponsor program. In the last few years my family and our friends have gotten mids that did not want to be involved in the program and it ended up being a disapointing arrangement for both parties. I hope you guys have a good plebe summer and maybe I'll see you in the Annapolis mall after you've lost all that weight from the running they'll make you do! If you have any questions about Annapolis or anything else feel free to PM me!

Oh! That's the form? Okay, okay, I got it. Thanks. Attention to detail...attention to detail...

Speaking of NCAA, I'm glad you mentioned it. My dad has been bothering me about it daily.

naptown -- it specifies both in our appointment packet and on the plebe sponsor questionnare that we are required to fill it out. However, you check "yes" or "no" for "Are you interested in participating?"

I, for one, totally intend to get a surrogate family!!

a note about sponsors: i am blessed with awesome sponsors, but naptown: mids are actively encouraged not to go over to their sponsors houses' if they do not mesh with the family. plebes have enough to deal with without having to try and make a difficult or awkward sponsor situation work: and contrary to what seems to be the impression, the academy tries to get ALL plebes sponsor families'-its not really an "only fill the sheet out if you want one" matter-since everyone has to fill it out. my boyfriend has never been over to his sponsor family's house...because they were jerks. you can always switch sponsor families or go over to friends' sponsors if your own don't work out. meeting your sponsors is a big deal about a week before plebe parents weekend--and it is such a big deal cause everyone has one.

Wheelah is (as usual) correct.

I was assigned a real zero as a sponsor. Never saw him after meeting him at USNA that first time. My then-best-friend (who later tried to royally screw me), took me over to his sponsors, and I was with them for two years.

After the attempt to screw me, the sponsors and I had a falling out, and I was adopted my 1/C year by a loving family. God bless them!

Good sponsors are gifts from the Almighty, and most of them ARE good!

Just an aside word of advice: Do NOT, under ANY circumstances, attempt to date the child of your sponsors. Just don't.

No, I do NOT know this from personal experience, but I DO know it second-hand.

So if your initial sponsor doesn't work out, they will attempt to line you up with another famly?

That I don't know for sure. In my case, I simply got picked up by my friend's sponsors.

That said, I suppose it won't hurt to ask for a change. Thing is, I wouldn't know who to ask. You could ask your Company Officer (following chain of command, of course), or you could go to the Chaplain Center (assuming that's still in Mitscher Hall) and ask them to help (much less problematic, IMO).

I honestly don't remember if we were given a point of contact for Midshipmen concerning the Sponsor Program, but I simply cannot imagine that their ISN'T one.

There are plenty of families out there who sponsor Mids, and many sponsor more than just one or two, so finding one shouldn't be too tough. There was one guy there in my day who sponsored over 25. He had a kickin' place on the weekends, boy!

Incidentally, I know of very few cases where sponsors didn't work out. Sadly, I'm one of them, twice over. Karma.
