***USNCO 2017***

good luk to ur son @wzg69g!!

So I have a dilemna…my Chemistry teacher has been out for a few days and because of that, we haven’t exactly arranged a date to do the testing since practically no one at my school will end up taking it…but I know that we did register and always pay for the tests…so If I take it really early tomorrow and he mails it out, then will I still be okay? Testing must be in by April 1st, right?

Andddd I didn’t take the test. Oh well  There goes my time.

How do we get our scores???
Qualifying for this could possibly get me off the yale waitlist, so I’m kinda freaking out rn

You get your scores via email about a week after you take the test

@sunshinesun I took it in the middle of march - well over two weeks ago. Is it safe to assume I didn’t qualify, or what?

@lhw1998 Check your spam, and if it’s not in there, email your local coordinator.

@lhw1998 not necessarily. I didn’t get notified until 2 weeks after I took it, so it depends on the local section

Does anyone know approximately how high you need to score on the multiple choice section of the national exam to place in the top 150? Also, are the old exams as difficult as the newer one’s or are they totally different?

@isFress you need around mid-40’s for honors, but it varies from year to year. The newer Part I’s are definitely much more difficult than the older tests, but for Part II the difference may be more subtle, but I’m not quite sure

Apparently, I was named the #1 alternate. What does that mean? Did I score well enough to where I technically qualified, but there wasn’t enough space for me?

Does anyone know what the relevant orgo topics are in the national exam?

@lhw1998 That means that you were one spot from qualifying, so if any of the top scorers drop out, you will get to take the national exam.

Also, I heard that only the multiple choice matters for determining the honors list. Is that true?

Yeah. The way they determine it is multiple choice determines top 150, multiple choice+free response determines top 50, and multiple choice+free response+ lab determines top 20.

Approximately how many students are in each section? Does anyone have a rough estimate?

@lhw1998 the socal section has 1038 students

Are you guys ready for the national exam in the next few days?

San Diego did not report local results but said they only notify qualifiers for the national exam. Did all of you get your score from the local exam? I’m totally in dark!

Oh man. My national exam is tomorrow.

Does anyone know when the honors and high honors will be posted?
