USPS or UPS...taking bets!

Don’t expect packages routed through Philly any time soon

@deb922 I am having a similar issue with something I ordered from Hurley on 11/30! It was logged three times by USPS at its Los Angeles distribution center on 12/5: 7:17pm accepted, 8:17pm arrived, and then 11:30pm departed. Nothing else until 12/9 when it says “in transit to next facility.” That was the last notation, 11 days ago. I know USPS is slammed and this package is traveling from L.A. to east coast but the fact that it has not been logged anywhere in the last 11 days is ridiculous. Fortunately it’s just a t-shirt for my husband, so if it doesn’t turn up this week, I will call Hurley.

In your situation, I would not normally blame the seller for the USPS delivery issue. However, the seller waited too long to let you know the item was delayed on his/her end due to stock issues. They should have at least offered to send it a faster method at their expense. I think it is perfectly reasonable to ask for your money back if it doesn’t arrive soon.

As I said above, one thing that was sent USPS first class is nowhere to be found, and the second thing that Coach said they were sending USPS priority 2 day mail due to Coach’s delay was showing as label created on Dec. 11, received by USPS on Dec 12, sat in Jax until Dec 16, shows as arriving in Atl Dec 19, and no further update or estimated delivery date. Soo…9 days later for a 2 day Priority mail soft envelope, … nothing in site!

@Mabelsmom. My daughter’s package is going through the post office centers named. She has packages coming to her that the shipper dropped the ball on.

An update on my package sent Priority Mail to Canada on Dec 4. After spending 11 days in Montreal, “Your item arrived at a facility in CANADA on December 20, 2020 at 12:11 pm.”

A facility. That’s all I got. I have no idea if this facility is closer to the destination than Montreal.

I had the option of having an item I purchased for H delivered to the local UPS store. Since we don’t have mail delivery to the house—only a box at the local branch post office with very limited hours—I opted for delivery to the UPS store. I went to the store yesterday and it wasn’t there! They said I should come back Monday. Ugh!

Well that explains a lot. Too bad they aren’t telling the public when they mail the packages.

I think our mail is being delivered about twice a week. That’s it.

Ordered from Amazon 12/17. Predicted arrival 12/20. Actual delivery 12/20.

Maybe it’s my neighborhood. I have no idea if Amazon. UPS, or USPS delivered it.

I ordered something from 4Oceans last week. It said it would not be here in time for Christmas unless I picked $10 shipping rather than free. I’m cheap, I elected the free shipping.

I got a notice the next day that it was shipped, ready for pick up and gave me a tracking number but that showed nothing. Checked again Friday and still no new info.

Today, on a Sunday, it was in my mailbox. I also got an email that it was ‘out for delivery’ and then that it had been delivered, but I’d found it before I got those emails.

So got something I ordered last week (Tues? Wed?) on a Sunday. USPS.

I did see on the news that USPS is so overwhelmed that you can’t always track things. They just aren’t getting scanned at every step.

@lookingforward everything we have ordered through Amazon has been delivered in one of their Amazon minivans, and has arrived within 3 days of ordering. This includes this IPad which was ordered on a Sunday and arrived here Tuesday.

But that doesn’t help folks like me who was sending things from this house so that my far away kid could have a little Christmas. My $50 plus priority mail package took 10 days to get from CT to AZ…but I’m grateful it got there.

Sent a box of Christmas presents and goodies last Monday from VA to CO via UPS ground and it arrived Thursday. Sent another yesterday and it is supposed to arrive Thursday. We’ll see. Not trusting USPS with all the stories of backups.

@lookingforward: You can find out by looking on the Amazon website under “Your Orders.” It will tell you when it was delivered and by whom.

I ordered an item from amazon last week for my daughter when I realized the stuff I sent usps probably wasn’t going to make it. I was promised delivery today 12/22. I ordered on 12/17. One day delivery It said, it’s on my invoice.

Item ships, it’s on a slow truck from California delivery 12/28!

I did an online chat and it was very unsatisfactory. Very

I heard that amazon had to shut down a warehouse in New Jersey because of Covid.

Anyone in eastern PA, Philadelphia area. Don’t expect any packages right now. They aren’t coming. I shipped my packages within the USPS guidelines, this is crap.

Thanks. Tried it and for Dec orders, 1 pkg A, one UPS, two USPS.

My last package out there has been delivered by FedEx. :grinning: It was one of four ordered from Kohl’s on Dec. 10. It was picked up in Ohio on the 14th, then spent over a week traveling across the country by train (I think from the route). It went through Kentucky, Illinois, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Montana, then checked in at four different locations in the greater Seattle area. It was actually somewhat fun tracking its route - looked like a very scenic trip! I gather some kind of sensor was periodically checking in along the way because it certainly didn’t get scanned.

I had two other USPS packages sit about a week before getting on a plane - one was Amazon; it went missing in New Jersey and Amazon thought it was lost and issued me a refund. Then it registered elsewhere in NJ and a few days later was at my door. Amazon has discovered this and either wants me to return it (sorry, already installed the new router) or they will charge my account in again in March. That’s fine!

The other package from a small shop in Deerfield Beach, FL waited a while in Opa Locka before hopping a flight to San Diego and arrived safely.

I ordered three items from Wayfair on 12/07, they were predicted to all arrive by this week. Two arrived last week, one has no status, just that it was shipped the 10th.

Another large furniture item was ordered in October, predicted in January, but arrived in FL the first week in December, picked up by the shipper the 8th, arrived in the Phoenix the 11th and now crickets. They say it’s been turned over to the sub-contracted shipper, no tracking, no status, nothing. It took 3 days to move FL>AZ, but now it’s been 12 days and nothing has happened to move under 300 miles.

This happened last week in my area, sadly it was at the beginning of the delivery route, all those packages and cards, poof!

Those Grumman LLV mail delivery trucks were made in 1987-1994, with an intended lifetime of 24 years.

Currently, they cost about $3,000 per year in maintenance (probably because so much stuff in them is worn out), and get 10mpg.

Two of my items are not going to make it. One was a #girldad I ordered for my son which I ordered on Amazon on 12/12 (but not distributed by Amazon). It was to be delivered 12/18 to 12/22 and according to tracking USPS took possession in OH 12/14. But appears to be in transit to the next facility ever since. The other is cozy socks for the stockings which were ordered 12/18 but just left PA yesterday.

Yes, some things aren’t gonna make it by Christmas this year. I have lots of sympathy for all the delivery services and delivery people. I’m sure they are doing their best, but there is so much more mail and packages this year, since people aren’t hauling themselves across the country with their packages.
