I have a 3.6 gpa at my current and first real University but i took dual credit courses in high school through a community college and got a lousy 3.0 . UT Austin is asking for both my current transcript and my dual credit course transcript for admissions as a transfer student for which i am applying. Which Gpa do you think the admissions board will use more heavily to evaluate me? The muchhhh for current 3.6 or 3.0 from high school. Also im on track to have a 3.8 this spring semester. What do you think my chances of admission are? Do you think they even care about my dual credit grades?

Your most recent grades at your current university will have the largest impact, especially if you have taken 1 or 2 full semesters there.

You should send them all the transcripts they request, but if you get a chance to write about your current grades, emphasize the 3.6 you already have on the books. You can’t project 3.8 this early in the semester, but if you know your midterms grades already and 3.8 is based on that, then go ahead an mention if if there is a place to write.

thank you and also when they calculate their own gpa do they count grades for courses that dont transfer?

That I do not know, but you can call the admissions office and see if someone there can explain the specifics. You don’t have to give your name to them to ask admissions questions.
