Does anyone know how difficult it is to get into Econ in the liberal arts school or math in the natural sciences school at UT Austin? Those are the two I am thinking about applying to and I just want to know which one is more difficult to be accepted in to.
I don’t know which one is harder to get into. I believe that about double the students graduate with Economics compare to Mathematics, I think it’s like 700+ vs. 300+.
UT is ranked 14 (USNews) in the nation with their math program, some specific areas are in the top 10, this article is 2 years old https://news.utexas.edu/2017/04/04/ut-austin-has-18-top-10-programs-in-latest-global-rankings/
UT’s Economic’s is ranked 27 (USNews) in the Nation.
My daughter applied to math as her first choice and to economics as her second. She got her first choice. She is an auto admit and in the top 2% of her class with a well rounded resume.
You should apply to both and pick one as your first choice.
