I was wondering if I could get into UT or TAMU with a 3.5 gpa (in the top 13%). I want to major in electrical engineering and minor in business. I am african american and plan to get a 1800+ on the SAT. I am also taking physics AP and calculus BC next year. Also which college is better between the two?

As a freshman, I doubt a 3.5 and an 1800 on the SAT will be enough to get into UT. It is super competitive because the top 10% are automatically admitted. You have a better shot at A&M but it is still not guaranteed. You need to aim for a higher SAT score than that. As for which is better, UT is ranked higher but honestly you will get a fantastic education at both schools. An aggie will tell you that UT sucks, and a longhorn will tell you that A&M sucks. However the main thing is that you like where you are going, regardless of what other people think.

what do you think i should shoot for on my SAT? and do you have any tips to score better on the SAT

Aim as high as you possibly can. 2000+. I don’t really have any tips for you because I never took the SAT. I’m sure you could find practice SAT tests online, so do those to kind of get a feel for the test so you know what you are getting into come test day.

Can anybody give me advise for the SAT?
