Could anyone give me some insight into whether I have a chance of getting into UT Austin, especially McCombs or the CNS? Here's some info:
Rank around 9-10% (no top 8% auto admission for me...)
2200 SAT
Commended PSAT
5's on about 6-7 AP's as of junior year (AP scholar award)
Nat. Honor Society
Spanish Honor Society
Bronze medal on 2 National Spanish exams
700-750 range on 3 Subject Tests
Sport for 4 years
About 150 hours of volunteering mostly at a hospital
Worked a summer at a physician's office

As I understand it, rank plays an enormous role even in holistic admissions. If I have pretty good essays, could I probably get into UT?
Thanks!!

Those stats are competitive for McCombs. CAP could be a possibility, but UT also holds spots for others (I know several people from my private high school that were not top 10% and got in).

Yeah, I’m pretty sure they auto-admit enough people to fill 75% of seats. So if you’re not in the top 8%, UT will be fairly competitive, especially for McCombs, but it shouldn’t be too difficult.

Thanks everyone. How much would something like raising the SAT to 2350 range help? can’t think of anything else to improve on, except class rank (which is too late to do anything about).
And I really don’t want to CAP btw…

Does applying early really help much? I’ve heard people for and against that idea. I’ll likely send it in mid/late October (opens August 1, deadline December 1).
