UT Austin Class of 2021 Applicants "Non-Auto Admit"

My son just got admitted to the Cockrell School of Engineering today. He applied well before the 10/15/16 deadline but his letters of recommendation came after 10/15/16. He is in top 15% of his class, GPA 3.97/4.0 (weighted), 32 on his ACT, 1480 on new SAT. He had really good essays (I am biased but his reviewers thought so as well), good extracurriculars (although not tops on awards), and is a SystemsGo Rocketry HS student. We frankly thought it was a long shot that he would get in compared to all the fantastic stats we saw here in the threads. Now he has to decide where he wants to go.

How the decision is coming? R they sending emails or u r seeing the portal ?

Hav applied for CS in cokreal engg college… my status shows under review

CS is in CNS (nat sci), not engineering. There may be a separate computer engineering degree - I’m not sure.

No email notification. We had to check the portal to find out.

But uteid says they will send an email notification when results ll be out

Are there any OOS applicants who applied close to the 1-Dec deadline and have received their decision?

@durna01 I applied a few days before the Dec 1 deadline and I got my acceptance today.

@figeon Thanks. If you don’t mind, would you share your major and key stats? Just wondering if they chose to accept students with exceptional stats this early.

@durna01 that’s what I was thinking too! Since non-auto admits are technically not rolling, they are probably accepting the “right on the edge of auto” students first.

@durna01

biology major for CNS

3.88 UW, 4.38 W
33 act
1450 sat
3/342 in class
I wouldn’t say my extracurriculars are spectacular.

Hmm still haven’t gotten mine. My stats are pretty good (Top 10% but not 7 and 1550/1600 SAT), and I applied to Cockrell a couple of weeks before the deadline.

Any non-auto admits heard from COLA yet? I applied in late August and haven’t heard back.

@texasee: Congratulations on your D being accepted. My son has applied for ChemE and his application is still in review status. Could you please provide details on your D’s academic stats? Thanks

Any non-auto admits accepted into College of Education to earn a teaching certification degree?

@amaame so far the only people who have received acceptances that I’ve heard of is CNS, McCombs, and engineering. I am eagerly awaiting on college of education also

Has any international student receievd decision from cokreal engg school

USUG21, I’ve read the whole post and yet no international student has received his decision from cockrell, at least that’s what this thread says. I’m also an international student (male) with a perfect gpa of 4.0 but an average SAT score of 1790. Already got into Penn State and Colorado School of Mines, majoring in Petroleum Engineering. I’d love to get into UT Austin as well, since it’s the first on my list.

Good luck to you all!

anyone heard from LAH?

Can anyone tell me my chances for admission. UT Austin is my first choice and I know it’s a long shot.
