UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

@USUG21 Your decision is not dependent on whether or not you can pay the $50 fee. Is that what you’re having confusion about? It’s okay if you cannot pay it at the moment; there are definitely others who cannot as well.

thanks for your help. I will email to admission office to confirm.

Hi Everyone, keep your eyes peeled for the email and check ‘My Status’ everyday. My gut tells me that the wave that started on Friday will continue until Feb 15 until all of our kids are accepted.

Besides CC also check twitter for daily acceptances → https://twitter.com/hashtag/ut21?f=tweets&vertical=default

Is it possible for me to submit more testing scores?

@renwa --you should pick up the phone and call UT admissions directly to ask your question.

Ut ll send an email also to loook into portal

@renwa While you can certainly ask your assigned admissions counselor, when my daughter asked hers about sending in senior mid-year grades or new test scores, she was rebuffed. Basically, she was told that once you hit submit, your application packet is deemed complete. Thereafter, they are not interested in seeing or reviewing any new updates. This seems like an odd approach… one that is 180 degrees in juxtaposition to every other college my daughter applied to… but it is also apparently UT’s methodology. So… ace your tough senior year course load or fail every single class or score a 1600 on the SAT or even bomb it… whatever the update – just keep it to yourself… lol. Seems like a fabulous policy for those choosing to coast or take their senior year off. Seems unfair though for anyone doing great as a senior and wishing to share their scores, improved GPA, improved rank and/or improved test scores…

@EmpirestateDad you may be right … but experience over the past few years indicates that no more decisions will be released until late Feb. (I’m guessing late afternoon on Feb 23 or 24; possibly a week earlier), when all remaining decisions will be released at once (except for international students, who may hear a little later). So try not to stress too much before then!
PS my comment is re: admission decisions - i’m not sure about the timing of honors/plan ii decisions, though i suspect they’ll all be out by late feb as well.

So for 1 month all should relax… internationals like me sd relax more… but how can one or 2 internationals in earlier threds declare they got result last friday…

@USUG21 – All internationals should totally relax…knowing there are currently IN-state, high stat (34 ACT, 3.98 UW GPA, etc.) auto-admit applicants who still have not heard about admission to their major.

Ok, wait…maybe even the in-state applicants aren’t relaxed, lol!

Just empathizing!

Yes… wht stat do u consider high stat ?

I would say both!?? Do you not agree?

I dont understnd if ut is yet to admit indtate ppl then why ut gav admission to internationals… very confused college

@USUG21 – oh I agree. But what do I know since this is our first time in the game. Obviously everyone is qualified— and their review is no doubt holistic and thorough.

Maybe they want to maximize their full pay international population?

Yes may be… thnx to ut that they fixed the bug in portal and allowed me to pay 50 dolar. Now i m sure to get a place to live if admitted…of crse…

I know that the UT process seems to not make sense, but they have been doing this for a long time… so it must work for them. However, I do know several students who were able to appeal their decisions because of mid-year grades, rank improvement and better test scores. Many kids will end up getting CAP’d or waitlisted once all the decisions are released. Since UT does not look at mid-year grades etc. for initial decisions those can be used in the appeal process. UT will only review a decision if there is new information about an applicant. So in some instances it might actually benefit a candidate not to have sent everything in to the school.

@TexasMom2017 the lady at the admissions office said that most decisions would be in by the middle of Feb. If you look at twitter #UT21 – they send out acceptances every couple of days. In any case, I trust your logic - but will aim for Feb 15.

@USUG21 – getting a housing deposit at UT just guarantees you a place in line. UT does not guarantee on campus freshman housing. You may or may not get housing.

@EmpirestateDad They don’t send acceptances every couple of days. Its just students posting their acceptances after the wave. Anyways, I hope what you say is true

Are out of state and in state non auto admits on the same playing field for the spots that did not go to the auto admits?
