UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

Has anyone been accepted to the Moody College of Communication yet? I applied in August and I’ve been patiently waiting!

Guess not?

Yes my son was accepted to Moody. Received email in that last batch out I think a week ago now? Film is his focus. OOS applicant.

I spoke to admissions early today and a counselor said to check my portal on February 17th throughout the day. Then I talked to my guidance counselor and she confirmed that…

@smauleon Are you are an in-state applicant?

Just saw in twitter that internationals should not expect result before mid april… then how come aome internationals confirmed in this thred that they rcvd acceptance ?

If you read the tweet properly they said it’s possible for jinternational syudents to be accepted earlier than that.

@sean191297 No I am out of state from CT

Hey everyone, I am new to this thread. I am an in state but non automatic admit from south central TX. Any hints to when they will be sending out acceptances? I know before March 1. But just wondering in general when they were sent in past years, etc. also if it is snail mail or via email. Thanks

@EmpirestateDad But the second link says that either I or my parents must be a texas resident?

@nduclaunc It’s usually once a month from November to February, all waves except Feb. are miniwaves for (the most qualified / dedicated / or just random?) people. The big wave in February are when all (95 percent or so) hear back. The waves are from my observation. I might be horribly wrong and the 95 percent hearing back in the last wave I think I got that from a former UT admissions guy Kevin Martin. About your question for hints, stalk this thread every now and then and if you see a sudden spike in posts of people cheering, you’ve got yourself a wave. At this point, I don’t think there will be anymore waves except for the massive Feb. one when everyone will hear back.

If you see people posting about acceptances on different days, those people didn’t check on the day that they got in, possibly.

About hearing back, it is first shown in your MyStatus portal first before anything, then comes snail mail. I live about an hour from UT (given 0 I-35 traffic) and it took a week to get my package.

Mine came on a Friday and I remembered a miniwave back in November the Friday before Thanksgiving week.

Based on how many from my children’s high school that get in every year and how many have already heard for this year, your 95% is WAY off. For the sample from our in-state high school, about 75% of those that will hear have heard. Not sure how to reconcile that with the much larger population…I think it is fair to say that most of the OOS haven’t heard so their number may be 95% but not for the in-state pool…

@CollegeParent123 I guess it includes the entire pool, with OOS and transfers. Nearly 0 from my school heard back… Your kid’s school sounds really nice. Not everyone has the ability to attend the school where 3 quarters of all applicants hear back so early :frowning:

A bit worried. I applied back in September. 31 ACT, 1430 SAT, A’s and B’s. Applied Economics and Governments. When are the Liberal Arts decisions going to be released? I haven’t heard of many yet; most acceptances seem to be for Communication, Business, or Science. What do you guys think?

@Chance101 I also applied back in early September for Liberal Arts and have yet to hear back; most likely the rest of the Liberal Arts decisions will come out on the massive wave in February.

@chance101 I am also super worried. I applied in October for Geology and still haven’t heard back either… You’re not alone!

Can anyone help chance me for Engineering Honors? I already got into Biomedical and I know that most of the Engineering Honors decisions come out late in the process.

what are your stats?
