@Glee I think my status updated sometime saturday night or sunday morning, as the last time I had checked was friday night. and thank you! Good luck to everyone else!!!
Since Cockrell is one of the most selective schools, I’m guessing relatively few people have already been admitted? Ugh, I’m really worried now that I won’t get in…
Also congratulations @ubetta17
Son got in architecture this weekend.
Haven’t seem to have seen one yet, so I thought I might ask… Has anyone been accepted to the Arts and Entertainment Technology major (or know of someone who has)?
@ubetta17 and others those who have been accepted, please share with us if you notice any changes to your ut direct portal in comparision to your previous ut direct portal (before being accepted). That would be helpful. Thanks.
Does UT email you when they update your status?
Yes. UT will inform you through email if a decision has been made on MyStatus.

The admission statistics for UT online is highly misinterpreted? I have already decided that 1)I will pursue an engineering degree at another school if I do not get into UT or 2) enroll in UT’s CAP program and transfer in my sophomore year.
Do we have to apply to a UT school(not Austin) in order to be eligible for CAP?
Chance me?
@sean191297 The major thing to look for is a new tab that says “Fall 2017 Next Steps for Enrollment” that’s how you’ll know if you got in. Although I myself did NOT get an email telling me to check my portal for some reason??? idk did anyone else not get an email?
Do you get the e-mail the instant MyStatus is updated?
@res.construct Any reason why you believe “The admission statistics for UT online is highly misinterpreted”
@res.construct UT does not superscore the SAT. I’m not sure about the rest of your stuff because it doesn’t look like you completed the full application requirements. I wouldn’t think your chances are very good based on the info that was provided since you aren’t an auto-admit. You make it seem as if you just threw the application together when you had a few more months to polish it. McCombs is very selective.
The info is misinterpreted because it doesnt differentiate between auto to non auto admits. For example is the avg sat score for Ut really in the 1300s or is the auto people bringing it down?
Res, please learn about the university you’re applying to. https://admissions.utexas.edu/explore/freshman-profile
@res.construct @spankytoes Could either of you elaborate on the optional requirements for McCoombs? I sure hope I did not overlook anything when submitting my material. Not that it matters now anyway … Many thanks
@Appstats i just mean the optional essay B on applytexas.
Called Admissions Office for OOS stats. The lady said --> in Fall 2015, there were 9,500 approx. OOS applicants and 2,900 were accepted. Roughly 30%. OOS applicants this should put your mind at ease – but don’t stop praying :(( She also said decisions will be given out between now and March 1.
you really need to stop. I see UT replying to you on twitter in a very sassy way because you ask redundant questions. You don’t know everything about admissions and if you did, you wouldn’t be on here responding to things every single day. Don’t tell people to “learn more about the university they are applying to” if you don’t know much either. @sean191297
Has anyone heard from CNS honor’s programs yet? My OOS D was accepted in December for CNS, but still haven’t heard about honors program. Thanks!
@Appstats Honestly, I don’t know what admission requirements are needed for McCombs other than having to select it as your first choice major. My son applied for Cockrell. I was just remarking that McCombs is one of the more competitive schools to get into along with Cockrell and the law school. From friends that went through the process, recommendations, essays and your resume are heavily weighted. They want to know more about you as a person than whether or not you are just another good student. The person that I was responding to only did 1 essay that they described as weak and only had 1 teacher recommendation. (Also admitted that he/she ignored the topic prompt) It’s been a few months since we applied, but I think you needed 2 recommendations with your application. (I don’t recall if the 2nd was optional or required) But, when we did the guided tour last summer, the admissions rep specifically told us that “optional” means “you better do it to show us that you care”. The stats the poster mentioned look pretty paltry and would probably benefit heavily from the holistic process for consideration. I don’t mean that in an insulting way, just based on what we were told that they are looking for in admissions. But the fact that he/she also posted that they are Superscoring, which is not permitted, makes me question whether or not they put a lot of effort into applying. You don’t have to dig very deep into the process to be alerted to this as it’s right there on the admissions page under the SAT/ACT section.
