MyStatus just today changed to In Review.applied to engineering mechanical. does that mean I am accepted and they are just about to send the decision letter?
It’s Friday again, maybe more results for people “need additional review” would come out! I’m hoping!
My daughter was accepted into Aerospace Engineering back on January 31st. In state, non auto admit. We did not apply for honors. We are just still shocked she got into UT Engineering! lol
Son received acceptance today for Civil Engineering.

Accepted into Cockrell School of engineering on 2/17. (Mechanical engineering ) I am absolutely shocked. INTERNATIONAL student
Accepted to BME on 2/13 kinda surprised really, but happy nonetheless!!
“Top-ten class-rank” kids in these parts started receiving email prompts on 2/2/18 that directed them to the presence of rejection notifications. At least four kids got the emails within a few minutes of each other (all from different departments within Cockrell). Our son did not receive a “howler email” and got written notification of ME acceptance via snail mail on 2/5/18. 4.4053 weighted GPA, 34 ACT, 1520 SAT (770 Crit Reas, 750 Math), 780 SAT Math 2, 760 SAT Physics, AP Scholar with Distinction (will complete 12 APs by graduation; 6 under his belt currently, AP score of 4 in Physics C-Mech and 5 in Calc). Rejected students had comparable resumes generally, but fewer APs (in variety and number) and may not have submitted SAT 2’s?
Just made the Engineering Honors, any idea when I’d receive something in mail?
I got in on Tuesday and received the letter with the scholarship amount today! It took three days for me so yours should be coming soon!
Rejected from Engineering Honors. This one hurt. I’m thinking hard now if I really want to go to UT. I was hoping to get into Honors to have a smaller community on such a big campus.
3.99 UW 4.6 W SAT 1570 (790M, 780 EWR) 9 Science Olympiad medals (only joined this year so that is from 4 competitions), VP of H4H club, Founder and President of FBLA club, Ntl Merit Finalist, 10 AP classes, AP Scholar with Distinction, Texas in state auto admit.
@Cgaope What is your class rank?
Engineering honors are only about 10% of the admitted engineering students, so it is fairly hard to get in.
@Cgaope Honors doesn’t mean much on UT Campus besides the dorm and a large percentage move off campus after first year. Besides the small scholarship with Honors requiring the GPA > 3.5 each semester - what were you expecting from Honors? You’ll join engineering clubs or social clubs to get the smaller community and those who share your interests and think like you. Don’t make a decision about UT based on Honors. My daughter would tell you the same thing and she has Honors - it means nothing in the grand scheme of things. Certainly not on UT campus.
@CertifiedCC Rank is 13/803 at a Texas public school
@comptechmom thanks. I really, really was hoping for smaller classes and honors dorms. UT has so many kids and I don’t want pressure to use drugs or alcohol. I thought the honors dorms might be less likely to have that party environment.
@Cgaope wow your stats are amazing, I have no clue how I got in but you didn’t however, as far as I know, engineering honors is just the money. So you can still find your smaller community on campus without being “honors”.
@Samaritans What are your stats? I guess that is why there is a holistic review process. They must have a good reason to think you would be a better fit and that likely has nothing to do with test scores etc. Congratulations on getting in.
@Cgaope I have 3.99 UW and 4.83 W GPA. 1560 SAT, 35 ACT. National Merit Commended. 12 APs and AP Scholar with distinction. Basically no ECs lmao, only orchestra and music related. Also in-state auto
Know this is an old post, but wondering what month you applied last year, if you remember . I’m hoping for engineering honors and applied in September, but haven’t even received notification about my major yet.
Thanks
Engineering honors decisions did not go out until after Feb. 1
