UT Austin class of c/o 2022 admissions

@ForbesYe I heard that UT takes scores up until Dec 31st, and there probably won’t be another wave until mid-January so they probably would see them. Either way, doesn’t hurt to send

@kateheston111 Totally feel you. I applied a few days after the application opened and I’m still waiting, while several of my friends who applied after priority already got into the same major I applied to. Frustrating and a little discouraging, but it’s all a waiting game

@ForbesYe It will not hurt to send. However, UT does not require and may not consider subject test scores for admissions. What is the individual section score of your SAT and ACT score?

@CertifiedCC
35 composite
35 verbal
35 math
34 science
34 reading

@kateheston111 Congrats on UPenn! If your son already got into Penn, he must’ve applied ED. Are you still considering UT as an option or are you just confused like the rest of us about the admissions process at UT? If I’m mistaken, you can only back out of an ED agreement if you aren’t able to negotiate an acceptable financial aid package with Penn, not on the basis that you would rather go elsewhere.

@ugradbiz Thanks! UPenn is his #1, but I went to UT so I just want to see if he gets in. If I knew it would take so long I wouldn’t of bothered

@kateheston111 Yeah I think we are all a little confused with their admissions! I am sure he will get into UT. I was going to apply ED to Penn as well, but coming from Southern California, I couldn’t commit to the weather and the change in lifestyle. Did your son apply to McCombs and Wharton?

@ugradbiz Yes, he applied to McCombs and Wharton. I wish UT would release the actually wave dates instead of making everyone guess them.

Kudos to schools like UT who do not try to game applicants by offering ED! ED allows schools to admit lower stat applicants knowing that the higher yield resulting from binding decisions will make the admission a wash in the rankings. ED has the added benefit to schools (and extreme detriment to students) who may offer very little in the form of merit and financial aid because of the contractual obligation of an accepted student to attend. I hold those schools that avoid ED in high regard as it allows students to apply to several schools and find the admission, program, and package that is best for them and their families. UT very clearly publishes when decisions will be released: Feb. 1 or March 1 depending on whether an applicant submitted by the priority deadline. It is understandable that you are anxious when some hear and your own child doesn’t from UT, but ALL will hear from UT earlier than they will from most non-binding schools!

I applied to UT mid-October and got accepted into my major in November. I was also just notified of my acceptance into CNS Polymathic Scholars Program!

@ForbesYe
Test scores are great.
What is your class rank?
The biggest competition is the students from your school that applied to the same program.
Do you know anyone in your high school who has received admission to UT CS or ECE?

Major: Elementary Education
ACT: 31
WGPA: 3.78
Lots of leadership experience including Eagle Scout
Rank: 549 of 1406
Male
White

I applied on September 27th.
My application has been in review since then, does that mean my chances are lower?

How do you apply for scholarships at UT? When will you know if you have received a scholarship?

Too late buddy @Chipotlegurl28 Deadline passed

@Chipotlegurl28
Although university scholarship deadline has passed, you can still submit Texas Exes scholarships. They are on the UT portal page.

What is the schedule and expected number of decisions for the next few waves?

@kyang0309
Congrats on the scholars program.
How were you notified of scholars admission (email, snail mail, My Status, combination, …)?
What is your major?
Share some stats please.

what is the difference between regular scholarships and Texas exes?

Regular scholarships are those awarded by the UT institution itself.
Texas Exes are the alumni of UT and have privately banded together to offer non-institutional scholarships, and accordingly, Texas Exes has its own website to learn more and apply.

@CertifiedCC about top 5%. (42/800) No one that I know at school has gotten into CS or ECE. I would say that my school is competitive.
