Should I wait to hear from UT Austin or should I continue planning to go to a different school that already accepted me?

Most schools won’t really open registrations until february/march, so there’s no benefit to accepting their offer now. Wait for UT-Austin, it’s probably unlikely you’ll get in but it’s better to wait than to commit elsewhere and then learn you got in.

OP is automatic admit to the school based on class rank, but not necessarily to the CS major. Presumably, the latter and the financial aid offer are what she is waiting to find out.

@ucbalumnus Yes ._.

I agree with @Plumbus, it is unlikely that you will get accepted to CS but you never know. Your math ACT score is low for it. Most that get accepted have a high 30 in math but there is always a chance. If there is a good reason to accept the other offer you might consider doing it but if nothing will change in the next month, I wouldn’t. Apply for housing at both. You might lose a $50 deposit by doing that but that is small change in the big picture.

@GTAustin Aw man, I’ll just continue going for my other school then. I think there’s a test and a few other things I have to do. I’ll wait to commit on the portal.

Sorry, It’s just that there is so many students who are trying to get into CS at UT that the competition is fierce. There are a lot of good schools that are teaching CS that you could do very well at. What is the other school that you are considering?

I was considering A&M as well :slight_smile:

@GTAustin Sorry, A&M, Texas Tech, and UH

I’m just waiting… eh guess my chances at UT isn’t very high

All good choices. At A&M, you do have to do a general engineering year before you declare CS. The average GPA for admittance was 3.2, just keep that in mind when you are making your decision.

@GTAustin Thanks!

Were you accepted?
