I am an out-of-state student applying to UT Austin with a 3.87UW GPA. I have an SAT score of 1400. AP Classes: World History, Statistics, U.S. History, Calculus AB, Physics C, American and Comparative Gov, and Physics 2. EC: Math Club and school Robotics team for 1 year each and around 100 hours of community service. My essays are decent: not too good and not too bad. Should this be enough to get a direct admit to UT Austin CS? Where am I lacking?
Probably not. Your SAT score needs to be higher - 1500+ and the higher the math score, the better. The question is how do you stand out. You are saying your essays are average. Your EC’s are probably average as well. You are a good student but to get one of the slots for OOS students which is only 10% of the slots, you need to stand out. Apply but it will be a long shot.
