UT Austin Fall 2019 Transfer

I’m super curious as to why there isn’t a huge transfer thread like last years. App just closed so hopefully people start coming out of the woodwork.

I am applying for chemical engineering from a California CC! I submitted my application a looong time ago. Are decisions released in waves? Or how does it work?

I was thinking the same thing too.

Is it pretty easy to get into liberal arts with a 4.0? I am applying under the Health& society major.

@nursingschool120_ In the past yes it would be easy to get in with a 4.0. However last year when UT reduced the number of hours required to transfer from 30 to 24 it got a lot more competitive. I think you are still in great shape but I would not say it is easy to get in. You will still need a good application to go with your GPA? I have heard stories about perfect GPA’s getting rejected because the applicant put very little effort into their application.

I applied to Education, 3.84 GPA.

GPA: 3.92 on a +/- grading policy. Got two A-s my first semester so brought my overall down.

Hours: 46 after spring semester

1st Choice: Sociology

2nd Choice: Philosophy

Out-of-State Transfer, they only accepted 12% out of states so I’m super worried.

ECs: Worked mostly, had 1600 Community service hours after high school.

Resume: Dean’s List and President’s List. 1600 Community service hours.

LORs: 1 prof. My class sizes were pretty large and impersonal so hard to find a professor to give me a rec.

Essays: Meh. I’m a first generation American and college student and a minority so hopefully that will help.

Applied for both summer and fall. Hoping to get in to the College of Education for pre-Athletic Training. They will not be reviewing our applications until after march 7, because that is the end of the grace period.

UT’s website says we will know no later than June 15th

@carmelxleon The A- will count as an A for transfer purposes.

I called admissions yesterday and they said that we could hear back in as little as 2 weeks. I believe that they start with the college of liberal arts applicants!

@walk-456 Thanks for calling!! :smiley:

Hello! Has anyone else been put in review? Something I noticed compared to last years thread is that they did not go into review until several weeks later from today. I hope this means that we’ll be getting our decisions much earlier than last year.

Also, good luck to everyone!

I’m officially in review! Yay, hopefully we’ll start hearing back by April

Also in review!! soooo nervous

In Review!!

Hey y’all!

Did anyone apply to McCombs School of Business? stats?

Current school: Collin County Community College
Major: Finance
GPA: 3.93
EC: Phi Theta Kappa - VP of Leadership and lots of community service
LOR: 2 from advisors/professors and 1 from employer

jobs/internships: have had 2 business internships and worked 2 different jobs while at school

Essays: solid!

I am currently in review and anxiously waiting!

So compared to last year’s transfer thread, seems like people didn’t start going into review until March 22. There were some international students who found out a little earlier though.
Seems like the College of Fine Arts released the earliest acceptions on April 9 and Engineering and CNS began hearing back between, April 25-27. Hopefully we’ll hear back a little earlier since we are getting reviewed earlier.

Yep
walk-456 said that after calling admissions we could hear back within two weeks! That’s gotta be a new record ahaha
I think last year the admissions committee were in the middle of physically moving buildings so that could have delayed decision releases.

I applied for my second time after being denied last year for RTF. I’m not super hopeful as I have a 3.48 but I have
2 good LORs and an internship at SXSW so hoping that counts for something. Fingers crossed. Good luck to everyone!
