an A- is a solid grade though?
I might got a B at that time, so…
imo definitely definitely not worth to drop that class but it doesn’t matter bc you’ve already done it. I’ve heard many times that admissions doesn’t really care about one or two Ws.
Hope they just ignore that w. Anyway, thanks!
@cyki99 I was in the same boat with an Oral Communications class with a professor whose English was so bad that the entire class missed the first assignment because we didn’t understand what he wanted; we all got zeroes. Later we had an informative speech project and the highest grade was a 90% because “I don’t give out anything above a 90% because everyone has 10% room for improvement.” The 10 of us that remained up to that point went to the Dean and filed an official complaint and she recommended we withdraw, so we did. I wasn’t about to lose my hard-earned 4.0 GPA to some clown that slipped through the cracks of academia. Instead, I sacrificed it at the Altar of Calc II to please the STEM gods, and they’ve been gracious since.
For those, who are planning to transfer into International Relations, I have two questions
First Question: Did any of y’all take world literature, if so, how was the experience taking the class. I did not have the best experience, despite me being an English buff.
Second Question: Will it transfer over as a core or will it count towards the actual degree
Yes, Terry invitations are automatic but, no, not to every external transfer applicant. Invitations are sent only to transfer admits who meet Terry’s criteria. You received one, but ultimately didn’t qualify, because UT only knows you are a Texas resident at the time you are admitted. They don’t know howlong_ you’ve been a resident; that’s only established thru the Terry application process.
@PastePotPete I understand the process. I tried to suggest that perhaps people on Monday weren’t (only) admitted because of their eligibility for the Terry transfer scholarship (as UT wouldn’t know they are eligible entirely). The claims posted here and elsewhere seem unfounded, though I may have missed something on Discord or Reddit.
I dropped a class this semester too and was really worried about it affecting my application. However, after a meeting with an admissions counselor he told me that dropping one or two classes will not affect you overall and as long as the class you dropped wasn’t required for your major than UT doesn’t really care all that much if at all! As long as you required classes done and enough hours to transfer than I don’t think we should freak out about our W’s.
I can say it seems like everyone who got accepted on Monday was a Texas resident and I know that last year they decreased out of state acceptances to only 12% so hopefully they increase the number this year.
Even if the people who were admitted on Monday were Terry Foundation Scholarship recipients what about the people who were rejected on last Friday? What’s the reasoning behind it?
Also do we know if anyone was rejected on Monday?
good question. as far as i know, friday was only an acceptance round
