Spoke to admissions on Friday. They told me LOR’s aren’t even necessary. So in other words, they’re barely looked at unless it’s from a high positioned person. However, the committee still does a holistic review. I’ve been checking transfer threads all the way back from 2015. Students have been accepted to Moody with 3.5s for Journalism. Someone this year was accepted with a 3.48. I’ve watched countless amounts of YouTube videos, one with a girl form my CC getting accepted in 2017 with a 3.3 but had good extracurriculars and she received a LOR from the president of the communications department. I’m really confused on how they accept students. But it would suck getting rejected with a higher GPA than these students just because you don’t have that many extracurricular activities listed and special LOR’s. Hope everyone’s hard work pays off and UT admissions makes the best choice.
welp. i guess ill just hope my EC and experience will be enough for them to let me in cause my LOR was probably not that impressive. seeing at how they (moody) accept GPAs from all over, literally the only thing in my favor is my experience.
Does being in Phi Theta Kappa make any difference?
I would think so… I went to pick up my transcripts from Blinn and drove them to Austin and they let me see them before they put them in the envelope and it said Phi Theta Kappa member at the top. I think it looks good!
Now starts the longest week of everyones lives
yooo for some reason i thought the 15th was wednesday wowwww now i have to wait til Saturday
There have been several acceptances on discord already. I think they are all CNS or CS.
Acceptances today?
Yup!
yeah i am the guy who got accept to CS on discord. I have just got the decision this morning.
congratulations @nakroth do you mind sharing your stats?
The vast majority of decisions reported here have been acceptances, which I find strange. Maybe the type of person that would come to this forum is by correlation a more competitive applicant. Or maybe they’re taking their sweet sweet time sending out denials. Or maybe the transfer pool is just that competitive.
Rejections come last
Hey guys! I just got my acceptance today for a degree in Neuroscience!! I’m hoping that ya’ll will all hear back soon!
@samfilm Not always true. Plenty of rejections have come out for Moody. Still in review here.
Oh yeah for sure its not always the case but probably majority of them come out at the end. I was rejected with a bunch of people on the deadline and a day after last year
I just found I got accepted to CS!!
Stats: I just immigrated to the US for about 2 years. Now Texas residents. Around 50 credits with 4.0 GPA. 2 LORs. Essays are good. Around 100 volunteer hours. Working in McDonald’s for one year.
Hope my stats would help!
I’m just curious but to those who have been accepted are you getting an email beforehand to check mystatus?
I did not get any email?
I did not receive an email either
