I recently just got into UT Austin McCombs (business school), however, since I plan on majoring in accounting later on, I was wondering what requirements there are to get into the accounting program? I also got a full ride to UT Dallas accounting program, so the reason I'm debating between these two schools is because I'm afraid it's going to be very difficult to get into accounting at UT Austin, and I may not get what I want. I want to go to UT Austin, but UT Dallas might be a better option for me, money wise and education wise, so I want to know all the details before I make my decision. And yes, I do know that UT Austin is a better school, but how much does that actually impact me in the future when I'm searching for a job? How much do companies care about where you graduated from? Also, I've heard that it's more expensive to major in accounting at UT Austin. Is that true? If so, how much more would it be for in state tuition? Thank you!

Wasnt an accounting major, but have some friends who were. I would go to Austin. The 5 year fast tract accounting program at UTD gets pretty decent placement. I think they collect everyones resume from that program and bind it in a book to give to firms. Possible to get into a big 4 accounting firm from UTD, but not easy. Would be a lot easier from UT, since recruitment is so strong at UT. Plus, UT has one of the best accounting programs in the country. School name matters in the business world, and there is no other program stronger than the McCombs brand in Texas.
