@mirmusali thank youu
Hello everyone! I was looking at the UT transfer guide for Texas community college students and I have a question. Is it necessary to complete ALL the courses for your prospective major prior to applying to transfer or is just a guide of classes that will automatically transfer? Meaning, if I donāt complete all the courses prior to applying will application not be considered?
They are recommended not mandatory. But for some majors calculus 2 is required like bio
UTbabe: You are correct. *I didnāt know that so I changed my major after submission of my app. Not all Universities work that way though. At many schools you donāt have to have completed calc prior to declaring a science major. OU & KU I know are different. I didnāt know that prior to this process.
Hey everyone so I have a 3.47 and Iām applying for COLA Government. I have 3 LORS, 2 good essays and a pretty good resume. Work on campaigns and stuff. Do yāall think I have a good chance? I have about 46 credits already as well
I think so. If your LORās are good, as well as your resume. You have enough university hours to show a good track record. Of course youāll need to have had some difficult courses, but overall I think you have a very good chance considering itās for spring. Good luck!
Iām applying into Applied Learning and Development & second choice sociology. 60 hours, 3.43 GPA. 3 awesome LOR, anyone know my chances? no one ever posts anything about the school of education
Take this for what it is, which is just one individuals opinion. UT-Austin has just over a 40% acceptance rate. That means not every student walking around on the 40 acres is a 3.7 or higher gpa student. That inherently means UT accepts good applicants with other strong attributes ābesidesā just brilliant gpaās. The UT Austin website literally explains how they implement their holistic review of applicants.
@sith77 I agree with you
Has anyone heard back from the admissions? Is it too early?
My daughter has not heard one iota. This wait is agonizing.
@JaceyK it surely is?
Never done this before, but figured it may inform some, so here are my stats as an applicant to UT College of Liberal Arts:
GPA: 3.94 from good Top CC Honors program; 27 Honors credits out of roughly 70 total.
Major: Government/Philosophy, with intent to possibly switch to Econ. Very likely going to law school though.
No SAT/ACT
Extracurricularsā
Volunteer hours: roughly 100
Interned at Congressional office
Ted Talk, commencement speech, Regional honors research presenter, National bronze medalist in College debate, Texas State Champion in debate, Multiple local Honors presentations. Semi-finalist for the Jack Kent Cooke Scholarship.
LORās: 1 but it is high-quality from my Honors Director
Essays: 2 not reviewed by professors, but grammar-checked by myself and others. Iād say they are at least okay, and I feel that Iām a good writer
@Jakemeister I think you have a really really good chance of getting in. Your application is well rounded like it has everything from good gpa to good ECs. Best of luck!
@utbabe, thanks for the kind words! Iām still nervous, but I have high hopes. Iāve already taken a semester off, and I want to get my undergrad going again
Has anyone heard back from UT yet? I applied to both TAMU and UT and iāve already been accepted to TAMU 2 weeks ago even though i heard TAMU is notoriously bad about delaying acceptance notifications. Given, i did complete my application late, though i did submit it relatively early. Iām just tired of waiting, at this point iāve just started to make plans to go to TAMU even though i would much prefer UT. I would just like to know either way so i can plan because i donāt have the money to to apply for housing and orientation to a school i might not go to.
@kwwhit73 You and I are literally in the exact same situation. I have been looking at living plans in College Station but UT is my first choice. Having to wait for this decision is definitely making everything a little more difficult.
@kwwhit73 and @rangerfan34 LOL - my daughter applied for both and is still waiting for bothā¦she wants TAMU though but the UT decision will have some weight as well. At least you have one decision already. What were your majors? She applied to Biochemistry.
Just my opinionā¦but, I think she should pick UT all day, every day. Incredibly great institution. Ivy league of state schools among others like Michigan, UVA, UNC, CAL, WASH, UCLA, etcā¦To go to a school that is right in there academically with the schools I mentioned is a massive honour!
@JaceyK Ah man thatās annoying. Well hopefully she will hear back really soon! My major is COLA-Economics.
