UT Austin: Spring Transfer 2019 Thread

Yes, going off of @hanjhutch said, there have been multiple cases of that happening and people appealing and getting in. I would call just to see what they would say, but unfortunately, my guess would be they’ll just tell you to appeal or try again another semester. Which would all be frustrating! Don’t lose hope! Try it and you never know, its better to give it a shot than to regret it later.

@habbas0723 If there is a way to message me on this site, feel free to. Did you take and/or submit a dual credit transcript by any chance? I would’ve been at 12 credits only with dual credit, but since I asked UTSA to send an in progress, I’m at 21 credits because of 2 AP classes. I think that when you sent your transcript in, it showed that you had the minimum credits due to AP scores but the GPA was missing? Idk why they would reject you, but I would call UT first thing in the morning on Monday.

The send final transcript by January 7th is the message I get on mystatus on the to do list. Right above the message, I have another one that says
“Your application for transfer admission is complete except for the required 24 semester hours of transfer coursework.
We will make your admission decision after we receive your final, official transcript showing the remainder of your required coursework.”

Are you not getting those messages on mystatus?

Can you see your courses from your transcript though? @seanq1 what do you mean completed?

@HornHopeful19 this is just stupid because the only other freshman on here hasn’t been rejected and still has the ability to upload a transcript by Jan 7 whereas I was rejected. this whole situation is whack

@seanq1 what the actual heck?? my to do list has just said “transcript not required right now” and that’s what it has been saying for months. I submitted everything on time. I have multiple hours (more than 24) but the reason why they wanted my updated transcript was because I didn’t have a GPA on there. idk what to do

@habbas0723 I would call them first thing on Monday about this issue.

@HornHopeful19 I’m not sure what you really mean but that’s probably my fault since I worded it confusingly. Like I can log on to the audit but every course shows that it is not completed.

@habbas0723 If there is a required pre-req for transfer to your chosen major, you should consider appealing when you have transcripts to show you have completed the course successfully. For example, Cockrell requires transfer students to take Engineering Physics I prior to matriculating to UT Austin.

@MomOf262 I applied for public health, but there were not any pre-reqs, just recommended things. I took calc 1 this past semester and did well. same with chemistry, chem lab, and some other electives. I just don’t understand how they can reject without my final transcript, considering I am a freshman and don’t have a transferrable GPA by their record

@habbas0723 I just thought I read you saying that you won’t have your fall semester grades until the 22nd. A week or two from that date would be cutting it close

Since your a freshman, don’t you need to turn in your transcript to prove credit hours?
If so, then they must have sent decision prematurely by mistake.

@MomOf262 I don’t think Public Health as any required pre-reqs. On CNS’s external transfer page, it just says that to be most competitive, you should have credit for calc, and six credit hours in science courses. But this info gets confusing if you’re technically a freshman cause on the same page, it recommends that you don’t take one sequence somewhere else and the other at UT.

@habbas0723 Def consider appealing, https://admissions.utexas.edu/apply/decisions/appeals
You have to do it within two weeks after the admissions decision is delivered. The site says “An applicant for admission should submit an appeal only if there is new, significant and/or compelling information that was not previously provided at the point of application; disagreement with an applicant’s admissions decision, alone, is not a valid reason for submitting an appeal.”
Your transcript for this past semesters work is evidence that fits the criteria.

@hanjhutch ohh no I mean the 17th of December, which is close regardless :confused: thanks for confirming

@123vca yes… they said to me numerous times that since I have the 24 credit hours (via AP scores) but no GPA since I just finished my first semester of uni, that I need to send my transcript to them after the grades are in for Fall 2018

@habbas0723 This same kind of thing happened to my son regarding UT needing his final transcript. I was amazed at how fast UT processed his appeal.
He was rejected on 06/21/2016, appealed on 06/29/2016 and was admitted on 07/01/2016. I hope this happens for you!

@MomOf262 thank you for your kind words- they mean a lot at a time like this! I’m just anxious because although my finals are done, my teachers don’t have to finalise them until 12-17, and soon after that, UT closes for the holidays

Something like this happened to my son last semester, and they put him back into review without an appeal.
They rejected him for not having 24 hours, before he turned in his final transcript showing he indeed had enough transferable hours to qualify.
Just call Monday and speak with an admissions counselor.

@123vca thank you :slight_smile:

Is there still a good amount of people in review still??? Because I’m still in review for Gov. And idk what to even think anymroe.
