UT Austin: Spring Transfer 2019 Thread

Anyone still waiting to hear?

@summerfun1 yeah :confused:

Yea I’m still waiting to hear back. I applied to the college of education with my GPA at 3.55.

Good luck! My daughter needed her fall hours to apply and had a 4.0 with 27 hours. So frustrating for her to have no answer. Knew it would be after holidays, but dang! Hate to watcher her wait.

I applied to transfer to UT at Austin during the fall for spring 2019 for Political Science/Government at the College of Liberal Arts. The supervising advisory told me that the decisions would be out by the end of November, so I waited. November came and went still no word. Then I took matters in my own hand and got in contact with one of the Austin Community College board members who was a graduate from UT and she still knew people from there. I asked her if she could ask and find out if my application was accepted and about 3 days later she told me someone from UT would contact me and tell me and literally a few minutes after that email from her, I was told that I was accepted. That was around mid December? Point is, you might have to ask around and that UT take’s it’s sweet time to review each application.

For Spring 2019? I didn’t hear back till December. Got in, but still to be stretched to January?

Well, I hate to say it, but Orientation for transfers being on the 14th, so they have to let you know by Sunday. Still, I’ve have heard that appeals don’t really work most of the time at UT from a supervising adviser from UT. So she just told us to not even bother with that process.

@BleedOrange1 The only reason I appealed was because I had to. They denied me before I had any college gpa. So they told me to appeal with my fall 2018 transcript that has my 4.0 on it. Still haven’t heard back

also I mean I wish I had access to UT grads but there’s nothing I can do from my end except wait

Honestly I met the UT grad during a ceremony for the new officers at our chapter of PTK. I was an old officer leave having servered fall 2018. It was pure luck that I met her.

@BleedOrange1 that’s really good that you met her! I wish I had met someone similar. I basically just called the UT admissions office, revised my essays with someone who used to work in the admissions office, and met with the regional admissions counselors in Houston. I’m just bummed because not only did I get a rejection before I sent in a transcript with my first semester of college’s gpa on it, but also my appeal is still under review

@habbas0723 Unfortunately, I do not think that your fall 2018 transcript is enough of a reason to overturn a decision. Everyone is taking classes in the Fall. The appeal process is for major mistakes and circumstances that are truly unique. Only a very small percentage, such as less than 1% of appeals are even seriously considered from my understanding. Also, how did you even qualify for a transfer if that was your first semester? Don’t you need like 20+ credit hours to even apply for a transfer? Did you take 8 classes? Also, the website specifically says that the credit requirements are needed at the time of applying, which of course was not the case for you.

@TXfiretoMed I know multiple people who had credits in progress that affected their 24 necessary to apply for transfer, but still got accepted either yesterday or before. I talked to the admissions office in August when I was getting the initial stuff together. They told me I was fine on the 24 since I had 14 credits in progress and also had about 50 AP credit hours due to good scores on AP exams. However I clearly didn’t have a college gpa as fall 2018 was my first semester in college. In August they said that wouldn’t be a problem and that I would just have to send in my fall transcript/I wouldn’t receive a decision before sending said transcript in. Despite this, I received a decision prior to even sending in my fall transcript. They rejected me without seeing the competitive 4.0 I put up this semester. So I called the UT office again after getting rejected. The guy was confused about it and told me to appeal with my fall transcript. Ideally, I wouldn’t have had to submit an appeal with my fall 2018 transcript, but a) they had no other transcript to base my decision off of so why did they deny me?, and b) had I received the same opportunity to submit my transcript as soon as it was available during late December AND THEN get my decision (much like what the people who had parts of the required 24 hours in progress until fall 2018 had the opportunity to do), my situation would be different. I would’ve heard back before and not been stuck in an awkward situation.

GUYS NO WAY. I got into public health today and found out right at the beginning of an 80 min class during which I could NOT sit still. But of course, I just missed orientation smh because I found out today

Bruh admissions are savage

How they giving ppl responses after orientation?!

idek what to do. apparently I have to call UT new student services and they can help me

I was just accepted also. Did you contact new student services on what to do because orientation was yesterday smh

i just got in as well!!! I originally got denied and submitted an appeal in dec and got accepted this morning for Psyc BS. You have to do an annoying online orientation since we missed yesterdays orientation-I finished it today in about an hour or so.
