UT Austin Transfer Orientation

I was wondering how bad it would be if I went to the August Orientation. I can’t make it to the one in June or July. It’s so stupid that they have it on a Thursday and Friday. Why not Saturday and Sunday???

Like what are my chances of getting in any of the classes that I need? Also, on UT’s website, I saw that most of the classes are already closed. Do the advisors just override it and put you in?

Regarding your second post, classes are closed until the registration day. It stays open for like a day before it is closed again until the next orientation. Cycle repeats until add/drop period

@smallkid9 When we look at the course schedule, some classes say open, some say closed and some say waitlist available. Some say restricted. How can we tell the difference between a class that is really closed and one that will open during registration?

Unless a class is canceled, closed slots will open up every registration period in general. Restricted classes have details within the course description

So I’ll be forced into going to the August Orientation. What do you think my chances are of getting Profs that won’t ruin my life and GPA?

Pretty high actually. But overall it depends on what classes you already have credit for and whatnot.

Hopefully I don’t get screwed. Good luck to everyone.

Have you ever heard the expression, “If you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right?” Have a positive attitude about Orientation and your class schedule, and everything will turn out fine. Good luck and hook 'em!
