Sure thing! Good luck! I really hope you find good news in the near future! @Rao
What is the (approx) percentage of people who get interviews who eventually get in? people who get in divided by all people who had interviews?
@TexasStudent2018 I have read that for the past 2 years, that around 50% of the people who get BHP interviews are accepted to BHP. But I also have seen stories online of people getting BHP interviews and then getting denials not only from BHP but also from UT generally.
S had a BHP interview several weeks ago and is waiting for both UT and BHP to decide. We are OOS.

Interesting read for BHP
Has anyone heard of someone not receiving a BHP interview then getting into BHP? I got into McCombs on the first wave of acceptance but I didn’t get an interview from BHP

It looks like kids who got interviews on here did not get into McCombs yet. Two different processes apparently; very strange! No one here has reported getting an interview and getting in yet. My daughter had interview but has not gotten in
I heard of a few others who got in McCombs in the first wave last week. They all were up there in class rank, I am guessing it was the same for you.
@rao I was in the top 3% of my school ranking wise. I know it used to be that McCombs would go down the list of class rank and admit like that but I believe it has changed dramatically.
Thanks for the article @Mills6 it seemed to me that they gave everyone and interview that got in. Oh well I’m happy with just being in McCombs!
@ceaser22 yes, we would be happy to have just gotten in too! She is from a non ranking school so we are pretty worried! Since she didn’t get in, she is adding some new ones this week that she will probably get in…and most of them are ranked much better than UT! So silly!
Thanks @ceaser22. Wishing you All the Best!
Prior year posts reveal that there are several waves of interviews and the timing of when an applicant interviews does not correlate with their acceptance. It’s way too early to read anything into what amounts to just whose application was pulled by chance from the pool of applications. It’s so very early in the application process at UT and elsewhere, so no-one should be discouraged!
@Mills6 posted this very insightful article

What I want to know is how any student has SIX leadership positions in high school? What do they consider leadership?
@GigiMayf @Mills6 Take the link posted with a grain of salt. The website referenced, despite it’s intentionally misleading URL, is NOT an official source of information but provides marketing content for an individual trying to sell services and content. Please only rely on the university’s website for reliable information when making admission decisions.
@Mills6 I wouldn’t get discouraged. From what I understand from a Q&A with the admissions counselors at UT is that if your Highschool doesn’t rank then they will predict a rank for you based on your GPA. If they rest of her resume is good I’m sure she will still get in! Best of luck!
Interviewed Nov 19th by phone, still in review for both McCombs and BHP.
@GigiMayf and @CollegeParent123
It isn’t official UT link, but link is from guy who wrote the book about getting into 40 acres and worked in UT admissions. Everything I have read elsewhere seems to agree with article honestly.
Girl I know who got into a BHP last year had about 10 leadership things and they were not bogus. Her resume was incredible and so was her class rank. Test score was lower than 34 though but still!! Just a tough program!
Good luck to all!
Anybody whose BHP interview is done hear back yet from McCombs?
The BHP process is very different this year.
My older son was notified of his BHP rejection by November 25, 2015 when the priority deadline was October 15. He did not get an interview so we were not surprised. He got into McCombs around December 19, 2015.
My younger son has not gotten an interview for BHP, has not been denied, but got into McCombs in November.
The main differences between them are that my younger son has a much better rank and I think his essays were more personal. My older son had bigger leadership roles.
BHP is a very selective program so we do not expect him to get in but I am surprised he has not received a denial by now. I am also surprised that those with interviews have not received any notification yet.
@gettingschooled Same here, D is accepted into McCombs, no interview, no notification.
@Rao We have had an interview but are not into McCombs yet and have heard nothing from BHP since interview. One person on this string (or maybe another one) posted that she had gotten into McCombs and has had an interview, but I think most on here have either had an interview or have gotten into McCombs but no interview. Very strange…
