I don’t want any biased answers, but there’s no TX State forum. Please tell me honestly. I’m going to major in education, as I want to be a third grade teacher someday. I got capped at UT Austin, but since UTSA’s CAP is already full and since I have a fee waiver I’ve thought about applying to UTSA (without CAP), taking transferable courses like CAP and transferring after a year. My other option is to go to Texas State, but I’ve heard so many negative things about it’s reputation like how it’s a huge party school and it’s not as good as UT and A&M. It’s close to home though, which is a plus. And I wouldn’t have to go through the trouble of transferring. So what do you suggest I do?
I would look at the external transfer information for College of Education and see if you think it is achievable. There are some schools at UT that are very difficult to transfer into- engineering, business. Not sure about Education. Talk to some elementary school teachers in a school district you might like to work in- what do they think about Texas State? In our highly rated school district, we have a wide variety of colleges where our teachers graduated. Most have their Masters as well and most of those Masters were earned at UNT and UTA, so I think there a lot of options available to you.
imo do CAP , external transfer into COE is probably not that hard , I’m doing CAP and my major is ECE so its a lot harder but Its not that hard to get a good GPA… texas state is considered the place to go if you want party
