I’m writing this for students who are thinking about attending UTD starting in fall 2020. If you want to live on campus apply for the dorms in the fall semester. For the fall 2019, there are 500 more freshman students that want to live on campus than UTD has dorm spaces for. They are only getting the information now that they will not have a room right and the apartments on the bus lines have been rented by upperclassmen. So, if you are seriously thinking about attending UTD, apply for housing early.
@GTAustin is so correct. I can’t stress the apply early enough. At one point this summer the waitlist was apparently over 800. They have changed all of the room and roommate swap ability of the kids that did get into the dorms - because they need to freeze everything and get a clear picture of who is actually attending. They are attempting to get as many of the people off the waitlist as soon as possible.
On the positive - this shows UTDs growing popularity among underclassmen and the active on campus life the school has created.
My daughter is very excited to move in - it’s just over a month away!
